  • Patent number: 5423233
Abstract: A device for attaching a shoe to a bicycle pedal comprises a plate (23), adapted for mounting onto a sole of the shoe, and a pedal body (1). The pedal body has first and second stepping surfaces (A, B) on opposing sides and front and rear anchor members (5A, 5B, 31A, 31B) adapted to cooperate with front and rear portions of the plate. The rear anchor members each have a lever that is pivotable about a transverse axis between an anchor position, where the rear anchor members are configured to affix the plate to the stepping surfaces, and a release position, where the rear anchor members are configured to release the plate. A common return device (55) creates a single, adjustable biasing force to bias both levers into the anchor position.

  • Patent number: 4960063
Abstract: A safety device for the foot-holder of a sailboard or the like in which the foot-holder has a strap in the form of a loop fixed at one end on the sailboard. The other end of the strap is secured to a latch which can be engaged in a locking body with a first elasticity in a first predetermined direction and then locked in the locking body with a second elasticity in a second direction perpendicular to the first predetermined direction. The latch and locking body are so arranged that under the action of a pulling stress exerted on the latch in the second direction, the latch is unlocked in a direction to enlarge the loop while remaining engaged in the locking body. But under the action of a shearing stress exerted on the latch in the first direction, the latch is released from the locking body and opens the hoop.

  • Patent number: 4500760
Abstract: A thermostatic switch with a pair of switch contacts opened and closed by a first pivotably mounted lever urged in one direction by a spring and in the other by a bellows to alternately open and close the switch to operate a compressor. A manual switch can be rotated to vary the spring force through a cam follower and is also movable in and out of the housing. When moved into the housing a second lever is pivoted to engage the first lever and the cam follower so the force required by the bellows to pivot the first lever is such that defrosting occurs.
