  • Patent number: 9200824
Abstract: A stand alone ice making appliance or an ice maker within an appliance is provided including a water inlet, a water inlet valve disposed within the water inlet configured to allow water passage when in an open position and configured to prevent water passage when in a closed position, a reservoir in fluid communication with the water inlet, a water level sensor disposed in the reservoir, and a control unit in electrical communication with the water level sensor and the water inlet valve. The control unit is configured to calculate a fluid flow rate using the time between the water inlet valve opening and the water level sensor communicating when a first predetermined water level has been reached within the reservoir, and use the calculated flow rate to calculate a total water inlet valve open time to fill the reservoir to a second predetermined water level.

  • Publication number: 20150082891
Abstract: A system and method for measuring the vibration of a structure of interest are disclosed. The disclosure provides an acoustic isolation structure to substantially reduce response to acoustic energy generated by external physical stimuli. The acoustic isolation structure is formed by placing a housing, such as an outer conduit, around an inner conduit, forming a gap between the housing and the inner conduit. The gap is then configured to serve as an acoustic isolation layer by either filling the gap with an acoustic isolation material or by substantially evacuating the gap and sealing the ends thereof.

  • Publication number: 20140254338
Abstract: Nanoimprint lithography can be used in a variety of ways to improve resolution, pattern fidelity and symmetry of microelectronic structures for thin film head manufacturing. For example, write poles, readers, and near-field transducers can be manufactured with tighter tolerances that improve the performance of the microelectronic structures. Further, entire bars of thin film heads can be manufactured simultaneously using nanoimprint lithography, which reduces or eliminated alignment errors between neighboring thin film heads in a bar of thin film heads.

  • Publication number: 20140209368
Abstract: The formation of substrate electrical connections on thin film heads is one source of resulting surface topography. In accordance with one implementation, such topography can be reduced by a process that includes depositing a first layer of basecoat, creating electrical recessed vias in one or more plating processes, and depositing a second layer of basecoat on top of the electrical vias and on top of the first layer of basecoat. In one implementation, the first and second layers of basecoat have a combined height that is substantially equal to the height of the electrical recessed vias. In one implementation, the resulting topographical features are small enough that they can be planarized without creating a lack of uniformity in the total basecoat thickness across the wafer.

  • Patent number: 7981972
Abstract: A synthetic graft has a glass composition comprises silicon as a network former and Sr as a stable isotope acting as a network modifier. The composition contains calcium as a network modifier and Zn acting as a as either a network modifier or as a network former. The glass composition may be mixed with a solution of polyalkenoic acid to provide advantageous glass polyalkenoate cements (GPCs). These cements are particularly effective for use as bone cements and fillers in the human skeleton as they set at room temperature, have similar strengths to bone, chemically bond to both bone and surgical metal, and release therapeutic ions, which can assist in wound healing and bone re-growth.
