  • Patent number: 6247759
Abstract: A cutting tool assembly includes a support block having a concealable outer surface portion, first and second bores, and first and second fluid passages. The first fluid passage is in fluid communication with the first bore and the second fluid passage. The second fluid passage has an axis and extends between the concealable outer surface portion and the second bore. Furthermore, the second bore and the second fluid passage are configured such that the axis may be extended through the second bore and beyond the support block without intersecting the support block. The cutting tool assembly also includes a replaceable spray nozzle having a body that extends into the first bore such that the spray nozzle is in fluid communication with the first fluid passage.

  • Patent number: 5927411
Abstract: A rotatable cutting bit-chuck assembly wherein the cutting bit has an axially forward end an axially rearward end with at least one cutting insert at the axially forward end. The cutting bit contains a cavity defined by a cavity wall. The chuck has an axially forward end and an axially rearward end. Upon assembling the cutting bit on the chuck, the cavity of the cutting bit receives the axially forward end of the chuck wherein there is a variable resistance retention member between the chuck and the cavity wall.

  • Patent number: 5467837
Abstract: A roof drill bit having a tool body with a cutting insert brazed thereto. The cutting insert has opposite leading and trailing face portions joined by a side surface which has a leading side relief portion adjacent the leading face portion and a trailing side relief portion adjacent the trailing face portion. The trailing side relief portion, which extends from the leading face portion a distance equal to between about one-third to two-thirds the thickness of the insert, has a greater relief angle that the leading side relief portion, which extends from the trailing face portion a distance equal to between about one-third to about two-thirds the thickness of the insert.

  • Patent number: 5400861
Abstract: A roof drill bit assembly comprising a roof drill bit and a chuck. The roof bit contains a cavity which opens at the rearward end thereof. Upon assembling the bit and the chuck, the cavity receives the axially forward end of the chuck. A sealing member is between the roof drill bit and the chuck so as to provide a fluid-tight connection between the chuck and the roof bit.
