According to the method in the client device (120) the method comprises: assembling a request for rights for consuming a content and indicating in the request which content to consume; determining if an upgrade key, associated with the content, is present in the client device; including, in such a case, in the request, an identifier of the upgrade key that is associated with the content, sending the request to the content provider; receiving, a response comprising an encrypted rights object; decrypting the encrypted rights object and starting to use the rights object for consuming the content.

A broadcast indicator (120) is selectively added to the descriptive file (100) so as to indicate whether broadcast delivery of the data segments (210) is available. Adding the broadcast indicator (120) and initiating the broadcast delivery may be accomplished on the basis of a popularity of the stream.

Abstract: A technique for determining usage of encrypted media content is described. A method implementation of this technique comprises the steps of obtaining a short-term key for decrypting the media content, obtaining a long-term key for decrypting the short-term key, decrypting the short-term key based on the long-term key, decrypting the media content based on the decrypted short-term key, and logging a parameter relating to the short-term key as a basis for determining media content usage. The short-term key may be a Traffic Encryption Key, TEK, and the long-term key may be a Service Encryption Key, SEK.

Abstract: Methods and devices for providing a media description of a media stream to a client are described. The client is subscribed to a media description delivery service. The media description delivery service comprises a media description delivery rule. A request for a media description delivery is sent to a media server. From the media server a media description is received. It is verified that the received media description complies with the media description delivery rule and if the verification is in the affirmative, a delivery of the media description is initiated to the client.

Abstract: Techniques for compressing and decompressing license information for Digital Rights Management are described. A method implementation of a technique of creating for a plurality of client devices or client device groups compressed license information comprises the steps of creating a template and a table. The table comprises at least one first license part common to licenses for the plurality of client devices or client device groups and one or more placeholders for one or more second license parts specific for a dedicated client device or client device group. The table comprises, for each client device or client device group and for a given placeholder, replacement information specific for that client device or client device group. The method further comprises sending the template and table for delivery as compressed license information to the client devices or client device groups.

The media data stream comprises one or more programs, and each program comprises one or more program components. In a method implementation of the technique, a zone description is defined. The zone description is defined for a media zone for at least one program or at least one program component in the media stream and identifies the media zone for the at least one program or the at least one program component. In a next step, the zone description is associated to a program specific information data segment. Abstract: A technique for content management using group rights is described. The technique facilitates a flexible management for a group of content files mainly by effecting a change of group memberships for subsets of the group and a partial update of the content files. As one aspect, a content file manager (20) is provided to create content files associated with group rights. A device (21) is also provided to process such content files. Abstract: This document discloses an advantageous approach to using a digital rights management (DRM) system that is already available to an electronic device, for security and rights management in electronic ticketing transactions. Exploiting the digital rights management system, which may be a pre-existing “standardized” DRM solution, decreases the processing and memory resources needed in an electronic device for implementation of an electronic ticketing application, while advantageously gaining the proven security of established DRM systems.
