  • Patent number: 9379976
Abstract: Ethernet Fabric devices all act as FCoE to FC gateways, so that the Ethernet Fabric itself is considered a virtual FCoE to FC gateway. Further, the Ethernet Fabric allows direct routing of FCoE packets from one FCoE device coupled to the Ethernet Fabric to another FCoE device coupled to the Ethernet Fabric.

  • Publication number: 20150296553
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods establish proximity-based wireless connections. A first electronic device and a second electronic device are each operated in respective “connection establishment modes” in which the first electronic device wirelessly transmits wireless signals and the second electronic device wirelessly receives at least one of the signals and determines an indication of a distance between the two devices based on a property of the received signal(s). If the distance is found to be below a threshold, a wireless connection is established between the two devices. In this way, a user may selectively pair a portable electronic device with a particular one of any number of available electronic devices by momentarily placing the portable electronic device in close proximity to the particular electronic device with which a wireless connection is desired.

  • Publication number: 20150116667
Abstract: A test of visual function and/or functional vision may be performed at varying luminance levels. A first course may be selected for a subject. A given course may comprise a layout having a beginning point, at least one turn, at least one obstacle, and an ending point. The first course may be illuminated with a first luminance level based on an estimated lower light sensitivity cutoff. The subject may be prompted to perform a first run of the test. The test may comprise, from the beginning point to the ending point, navigating the layout of the first course by walking around the at least one turn and avoiding the at least one obstacle. A determination may be made as to whether the subject successfully completed the first course based on one or both of speed or accuracy.

  • Patent number: 9015023
Abstract: A method and circuit for device specific configuration of an operating voltage is provided. A circuit design is analyzed to determine a maximum gate-level delay for the circuit design. A minimum voltage value corresponding to the maximum gate-level delay is determined along with a default voltage value corresponding to a default gate-level delay. A voltage scaling factor corresponding to the minimum voltage and default voltage values is determined. The circuit design is synthesized such that the synthesized design includes the voltage scaling value. The synthesized design specifies setting an operating voltage to a value of a startup voltage value scaled by the voltage scaling value.

  • Patent number: 8924475
Abstract: The present invention is an Emergency Response Center (ERC) which provides a variety of emergency and information functions in public environments. The ERC operates in a number of modes, including Information Mode, Emergency Response Mode, Security Mode, and Surveillance Mode. The Emergency Response Center functions are software selectable on a large video touch screen. A video screen displays emergency information to users and allows videoconferencing with various authorities as well as any individuals that own the account and apparatus. News, maps, weather, store directories, and other non-emergency information are also displayed by the ERC. The ERC can conduct surveillance of passersby using video cameras configured to stream and record the area in the vicinity of the ERC. The ERC can also scan employee IDs, capture employee facial images, and register employee data in the ERC database. An ERC server allows remote administration of the ERC.

  • Publication number: 20140301402
Abstract: An FCoE VN_Port virtualizer where VF_Ports are used to connect downstream to host and target VN_Ports and a VN_Port is used to connect upstream to further FCoE VN_Port virtualizers or to an FCF. An alternate embodiment uses an Ethernet Fabric for an additional purpose. The Ethernet Fabric devices all act as FCoE VN_Port virtualizers, so that the Ethernet Fabric itself is considered a virtual FCoE VN_Port virtualizer.

  • Patent number: 8851265
Abstract: The present invention is a reverse vending machine which accepts non-metallic and metallic beverage containers for processing. The beverage containers are inserted by the user into an intake chute, where they are then compacted, sorted, and deposited in storage bins contained in the machine. A number of additional functions are provided by the reverse vending machine, including a self cleaning system, a video screen for displaying information to users, a bar code scanner for scanning bar codes, a user ID reader, and a coupon printer for issuing coupons to users. All transaction information is processed by a computer and stored electronically. The invention automatically returns non-empty containers and containers with unacceptable or unreadable bar codes to the user. The user is also provided warning messages when the storage bins are nearly full, or when a container is jammed in the machine.

  • Patent number: 8009693
Abstract: A system and method for providing transparent communications between an Infiniband (IB) network and a Fibre Channel (FC) network are disclosed. One method comprises: (a) detecting FC node ports in the FC network; (b) creating virtual IB targets for each FC node port in the FC network; and (c) converting IB packets directed to the virtual IB targets into FC frames directed to the corresponding FC node port. It may further comprise intercepting management packets directed to the virtual IB targets and responsively emulating a subnet management agent (SMA) of the addressed virtual IB target. Another method comprises: (a) detecting IB channel adapters; (b) creating a virtual FC target for each IB channel adapter; and (c) converting any FC frames directed to the virtual FC targets into IB packets directed to the corresponding IB channel adapter. Fabric frames directed to the virtual FC targets may be intercepted and handled appropriately.

  • Publication number: 20100102475
Abstract: An expanded polystyrene (EPS) recycling and extruding machine is shown and described. The machine comprises a conveyor for transporting waste pieces of EPS of various sizes into the device. A housing surrounds upper and lower crushers that break down the EPS pieces in to progressively smaller pieces before depositing them through a screen that selectively prevents pieces above a predetermined size from passing. Below the screen, the small EPS pieces fall into a heated extruding mechanism that melts the pieces into a liquid and urges the liquid forward by means of an Archimedian screw to a nozzle, through which the reconstituted EPS is extruded for collection and reuse.

  • Patent number: 7236496
Abstract: An Inifiniband (IB) network that incorporates a Fibre Channel (FC) network is disclosed. The IB and FC networks are coupled by a gateway that maps the FC network to a virtual IB network. In generating the virtual IB network, the gateway may provide a virtual IB target for each node port in the FC network, and may further provide a minimum number of virtual IB switches necessary to support the virtual IB targets. The gateway assigns a globally unique identifier (GUID) to each of the virtual IB targets, and may further associate local identifiers (LID) with the virtual IB targets. The gateway preferably emulates subnet management agents (SMA) and general service agents (GSA) of the virtual IB targets when management IB packets are received, and the gateway preferably converts non-management IB packets directed to the virtual IB targets into FC frames directed to the corresponding target FC devices.

  • Publication number: 20060023751
Abstract: A Fibre Channel router used to join fabrics. EX_ports are used to connect to the fabrics. The EX_port joins the fabric but the router will not merge into the fabric. Ports in the Fibre Channel router can be in a fabric, but other ports can be connected to other fabrics. Fibre Channel routers can be interconnected using a backbone fabric. Global, interfabric and encapsulation headers are developed to allow routing by conventional Fibre Channel switch devices in the backbone fabric and simplify Fibre Channel router routing. Phantom domains and devices must be developed for each of the fabrics being interconnected. Front phantom domains are present at each port directly connected to a fabric. Each of these is then connected to at least one translate phantom domain. Zoning is accomplished by use of a special LSAN zoning naming convention. This allows each administrator to independently define devices are accessible.
