Abstract: Novel .DELTA..sup.4,9 -gonadiene-21-ol-3,20-diones of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and tritium, R.sub.1 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 is alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms and R.sub.3 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the form of 21R or 21S epimers or mixtures thereof having progestomimetic and antiestrogenic properties, their preparation and novel intermediates.

Also disclosed are methods for preparation of the novel products as well as certain novel intermediate products.
