    Abstract: For use with internal combustion engines equipped with electronic fuel injection systems and engine exhaust treatment devices, means for detecting spark plug misfiring resulting in excessive exhaust treatment device operating temperatures and for thereupon inhibiting fuel injection to protect the exhaust treatment devices from damage or destruction caused by the excessive temperatures.
