  • Patent number: 5656365
Abstract: Polyvinylbutyral useful for the production of laminated glasses containing a crosslinking agent capable of making the polyvinylbutyral very slightly meltable or nonmeltable. The material according to the invention may contain a plasticizer and is particularly resistant to fire and allows one to produce a laminated material with a good resistance to impact and to fire.

  • Patent number: 5322875
Abstract: A polyvinylbutyral-based thermoplastic composition which is useful for forming thermoadhesive films for adhering bases onto a glazing. The composition comprises a polyvinylbutyral resin with a hydroxyl group content of between 22 and 26% by weight, a plasticizer for the resin and an orthosubstituted phenolic antioxidizing agent. This composition is useful for forming a thermoadhesive film having good adhesion at the surface of the glass and good stability at high temperatures.

  • Patent number: 5187217
Abstract: Process for the production of a plasticized polyvinyl butyral particularly used for gluing a base onto glazings. The polyvinyl butyral is obtained by the reaction of a butyric aldehyde with a polyvinyl alcohol, demonstrating a level of hydrolysis greater than 95%, and a viscosity greater than 50 cP, in the presence of an acid catalyst and an emulsifier, the quantity of butyric aldehyde being such that the level of hydroxylation of the polyvinyl butyral obtained is between 22 and 26%.

  • Patent number: 4321418
Abstract: A panel of a plurality of electrically connected photocells wherein each photocell has a lower face, a side face and a radiation receiving face, is produced by (a) embedding at least the lower faces and side faces of the photocells and their electrical connectors in a thermoplastic resin in particulate form which resin becomes transparent upon fusion; (b) enclosing the photocells embedded in step (a) between two rigid sheets to form a sandwich-type assembly, with at least the rigid sheet enclosing the receiving faces of the photocells being optically transparent; (c) disposing the stacked assembly formed in step (b) within a flexible bag; (d) subjecting the interior of the flexible bag to a vacuum while applying relatively high pressure to the outside of the bag, and raising the temperature within the bag to fuse the thermoplastic resin particles; and (e) cooling the contents of the bag to solidify the resin and form thereby the panel comprising the photocells adhesively embedded in the solidified resin betwe
