Publication number: 20050208281Abstract: The invention relates to a method for production of a glazed piece provided with a multi-layer coating deposited by cathodic atomization, a glazed piece provided with a multi-layer coating and a crowned or tempered glazed piece provided with a multi-layer coating. According to the invention, at least one first transparent dielectric layer is deposited, followed by a functional layer based on a material which reflects infra-red radiation. A first protective layer is then deposited with at most 3 nm of a material having an electronegativity difference to oxygen of less than 1.9, followed by deposition of a second protective layer, with at most 7 nm of a material with an electronegativity difference to oxygen of greater than 1.4. At least one second transparent dielectric layer is then deposited. The invention is particularly advantageous for the formation of glazed pieces with low emmissivity or for solar protection which are crowned or tempered after deposition of the coating.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2003Publication date: September 22, 2005Inventors: Daniel Decroupet, Jean-Michel Depauw

Patent number: 5838482Abstract: An improved optical cell (light valve) of the type which includes a liquid suspension of particles orientable by an electrical field to vary the amount of luminous transmission is described. The cell comprises two adjacent plates held apart by a spacer to define a space occupied by the suspension. The cell further includes a first opening which passes through the spacer into the space to permit introduction of the suspension into the cell and a second opening which passes through the spacer at or near the furthest possible distance permitted by the configuration of the cell from the first opening, whereby the introduction of the suspension displaces through the second opening any fluid such as air which is initially present in the space.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1996Date of Patent: November 17, 1998Assignee: GlaverbelInventors: Daniel Decroupet, Pierre Laroche
