  • Patent number: 8284400
Abstract: A hand-held color measurement device is provided that includes a housing with a measurement unit which receives measurement light through a measurement window, converts it into measurement signals, processes the measurement signals to form digital color measurement data, and provides it via a communications interface. A U-shaped bracket is arranged on the housing and includes a middle portion in which a diffuser is integrated. The two side arms of the bracket are rotatably mounted on the housing such that the bracket can be pivoted by 180° from a monitor position to an ambient light position and back to the monitor position, and wherein the diffuser lies in front of the measurement window in the ambient light position and is situated at a rear wall of the housing opposite the front wall in the monitor position. A holding mechanism is provided on the housing and on the two side arms of the bracket which fixes the bracket in its monitor position or ambient light position, respectively.

  • Patent number: 8087498
Abstract: The braking device is provided a set of shape memory alloy activators positioned, in an agonistic-antagonistic configuration on each side of a brake lever. Braking and releasing phases are dictated by the austenitic transformation of the shape memory alloy activators. During brake activation, shrinking of the braking activator brings the friction pad in contact with a rotating drum creating a braking friction torque. Once the brake has been activated, deformation of a flexible fiberglass component prevents brake releasing by applying sufficient normal force between the drum and the friction pad. Conversely, upon heating of the releasing activator, the pad looses its grip and the drum is free to rotate.

  • Publication number: 20050279444
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus that is used in the building of a tire and an assembly process for building a tire. The apparatus comprises an apparatus frame and a main shaft that is rotatable in at least one axis about the apparatus frame. The apparatus further comprises a building drum that is provided with a plurality of drum segments disposed concentrically about the axial center of the drum and are movable in both the axial and radial directions and is fixed to the main shaft in rotation. The drum segments further comprise right and left shoulders located axially at the lateral edges, and the base of each of the shoulder extends axially to form a lateral projection. At least one version of the apparatus has right and left shoulders of unequal heights to facilitate fabrication of tires having unequal bead seat diameters.
