  • Patent number: 4869597
Abstract: A calorimeter of the liquid flow type. The calorimeter includes a chamber in communication with a medium to be delivered to the chamber at a steady rate of flow. It also includes a heat exchanger having a liquid flowing therethrough at a steady rate of flow in a non-recirculating manner. The chamber is submerged within the heat exchanger and formed so as to release the heating medium from the chamber into the liquid as the liquid is flowing through the heat exchanger. The calorimeter also is capable of measuring an increase in temperature from a first point to a second point as the liquid is flowing at a steady rate through the heat exchanger. As a result, the calorimeter can measure the heating value of a heating medium at preselected intervals or continuously.
