  • Publication number: 20220040619
Abstract: A filter assembly for mounting on a side interior surface of a horizontal or vertical return duct of a furnace includes at least one pocket filter having a retaining collar at its peripheral surface. The filter assembly also includes a frame. The frame has a header frame with multiple frame members forming an open framework defining at least one receiving area for receiving the pocket filter. The retaining collar attaches to or engages at least one of the frame members. The frame also includes at least one rail that is mountable on the interior side surface of the return duct. The rail defines a receiving structure for receiving the header frame so that the header frame can be slidable on the rail from an open position to a closed position with respect to the duct.

  • Publication number: 20140230385
Abstract: A filter for insertion into an air filter enclosure includes a pleated, collapsible filter having a flexible support member and a filter media layer, a top end cap and a bottom end cap. Side edges of the filter media layer cover the edges of the support member. The top end cap is configured for slidably mechanical attachment to a top portion of the enclosure. Weights and/or magnets are provided on the bottom end cap. The top end cap is guided into the top portion of the enclosure, after which the pleated media is released causing the bottom end cap to drop within the enclosure and magnetically attach itself to the bottom of the enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20100050581
Abstract: A foldable filter having a flexible filter media, a frame surrounding and supporting the filter media, the frame formed of rod members, at least two of which are flexible, each rod member extending between and connecting two corner regions, with the filter media being secured along its edges to the rod members. The filter may be folded by grasping two opposite rod members, rotating the two opposite rod members end over end oppositely relative to one another about a point generally midway along a length of the rod members to effect a relative 180 degree rotation between the two rod members, twisting the filter media, and folding the filter media in half by bringing the two rod members to lie on top of one another.

  • Patent number: 7537630
Abstract: A folding filter frame includes two end assemblies, each having a stationary panel having two ends, two folding panels, each having a folding end and a free end, and at least one track. The folding end of each folding panels is foldably secured to one of the ends of the stationary panel and the track runs perpendicular to a length of the end assembly. There is a stationary support extending from one end assembly to the other end assembly. Two side assemblies are present, each including a side panel with two ends and a engagement device secured to each end. The engagement device follows one the tracks of the end panels. The filter frame converts from a folded configuration to a deployed configuration by unfolding the folding panels and sliding the engagement devices in the tracks. A filter is made by positioning a filter media inside the folding frame.

  • Publication number: 20080079177
Abstract: Apparatus for and a process of making and stocking humidifiers for hot air heating systems resides in providing a selected number of humidifier modules of the bypass type, providing a lesser number of power modules each having a motor driven fan, employing the humidifier modules alone in heating systems calling for a bypass humidifier, and optionally combining a power module with a humidifier module for converting the humidifier to a powered humidifier for heating systems calling for a powered humidifier. Optional control modules may also be provided and employed as needed. The modules are assembled side by side. The process and apparatus eliminate the need for manufacture, stocking and supply of two different styles of hot air furnace humidifiers, i.e., bypass humidifiers and powered humidifiers, inasmuch as a single humidifier module now suffices. Substantial convenience, economy and cost savings are thereby realized.

  • Patent number: 6886814
Abstract: An adaptable evaporative element for a humidifier or the like is described. The evaporative element having separable layers, such that the thickness of the evaporative element is adaptable by varying said evaporative element between a separated and an unseparated configuration. An alternate embodiment uses removable fasteners attachable to the ends of a cuttable strip of evaporative layers to form a circular evaporative element. The evaporative element is adaptable between an uncut and one of a plurality of cut configurations. The evaporative element optionally includes an air filter media attached to its exterior.

  • Patent number: 6638333
Abstract: An expandable media filter structure is composed largely of biodegradable materials and is environmentally disposable. A plurality of pleated panes are interconnected at their edges so as to be collapsible for storage and shipping purposes but expandable for installation and use. A plurality of ribbons are ultrasonically welded to each of the panel edges, with the ribbon portions between edges being of substantially equal lengths, thereby maintaining equal spacing between the panel edges when the filter is in the expanded condition but allowing an easy collapsing of the filter for storage. Forming a part of the disposable filter are pair of end plates, with each being adhesively attached to an end panel and having a pair of slots formed near their ends for attachment to a nondisposable support structure. The end panels are formed of multiple layers of paperboard which are adhesively bonded and compressed into a U-shaped structure that rigidly supports the filter in its expanded condition.
