Patent number: 11947135Abstract: A light control film is described comprising alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions disposed between a light input surface and a light output surface. The absorptive regions have an aspect ratio of at least 30. In some embodiments, the alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions have a transmission as measured with a spectrophotometer at a viewing angle of 0 degrees of at least 35, 40, 45, or 50% for a wavelength of the range 320-400 nm (UV) and/or at least 65, 70, 75, or 80% for a wavelength of the range 700-1400 nm (NIR). In another embodiment, the absorptive regions block light at the light input surface and light output surface and the maximum surface area that is blocked is less than 20% of the total alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions. Also described are various optical communication systems comprising the light control films described herein and methods.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2018Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: 3M INNOVATIVE PROPERTIES COMPANYInventors: Daniel J. Publication number: 20130332186Abstract: Methods and apparatus for facilitating a payment collection process by enabling a patient to pre-authorize payment for future medical services not covered by the patient's healthcare payer. Rather than sending a statement to a patient instructing the payment to remit an outstanding balance, a practice management system automatically applies electronic funds for the patient's outstanding balance in accordance with terms of a contract executed between the patient and the medical practice at the time of service. By including contract terms such as a predefined maximum charge amount and limited contract duration, patients may feel that their electronic account information is safe and that they will be billed only for what they owe. Additionally, medical practices may have better assurance that remittance for medical services will be paid promptly by patients under the terms of the contract.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2013Publication date: December 12, 2013Applicant: athenahealth, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Epstein, Aaron Homer, Jason Chang, Jeff Kibler, Cezary Wislocki-Wasecki, Geoffry Maletta, Robert Nix

Patent number: 8392314Abstract: Methods and systems for computer-based incremental trading are provided. Owners of the top price/time priority orders are able to trade between each other multiple numbers of times prior to the expiration of a workup period, at which time the workup orders of all the users participating in the workup are matched. The workup period is private between the owners of the top price/time priority orders and the orders are allowed to be modified multiple times. When the workup period ends, orders are matched according to the original price/time priority.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2010Date of Patent: March 5, 2013Assignee: MarketAxess Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Epstein, Rajesh Mani, Yuriy Metelev

Patent number: 8332287Abstract: Methods and apparatus for reconciling bank transactions with stored deposit entries in a practice management system. A plurality of bank transactions received from a bank are processed to select bank deposits from the plurality of bank transactions. A plurality of matching rules are used to automatically match at least some of the selected bank deposits with the stored deposits in the practice management system. A user interface enables a user to review the results of the automatic matching process and to manually match bank deposits to stored deposit entries. The user interface also enables users to reconcile stored deposit entries in the practice management system to bank statements to facilitate the preparation of month-end financial statements.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2010Date of Patent: December 11, 2012Assignee: athenahealth, Inc.Inventors: Jasmine Gee, Daniel Epstein, John Michael German, Laurie Mullin, Kate Levesque

Patent number: 4389669Abstract: An opto-video inspection system for inspecting and examining miniaturized solid-state devices, such as hybrids. An XY table simultaneously positions a known good device and a device to be inspected under respective stereo-zoom microscopes. A TV camera is coupled to each microscope. The XY table, under microprocessor control, is manipulated to select the "target" or wire bond to be viewed. The selected sites may be simultaneously viewed upon a split screen video display or, alternatively, either the known good device or the device being inspected may be separately viewed through the associated stereo-zoom microscope or on the video screen. Dwell time at each site is computer selectable, as is the sequencing of sites to be viewed. Defective bonds, imperfections or other conditions are permanently recorded through a printer which automatically associates the code printed thereby with the site in view at that time.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1981Date of Patent: June 21, 1983Assignee: ILC Data Device CorporationInventors: Daniel Epstein, Robert Lieberman
