    Abstract: An electric vehicle (EV) charging adapter configured to interface with an EV charging station charger. The EV charging adapter may be hardwired with the EV charging station or a charger of the charging station may plug into the adapter for powering the adapter that is then used to power an EV. Further, an automated charging system that autonomously detects and connects an EV charger to an EV by automatically aligning and plugging an EV charger. The EV charging adapter may be configured with sensors, such as image sensors, that are used to autonomously detect and connect to an electric vehicle. Additionally, a universal charging connector may be configured to connect to an EV charging port and interface with the electric vehicle charging adapter, where the universal charging connector may have a small enough profile to remain connected to the EV charging port during operation of the vehicle.
