    Abstract: An apparatus comprises frame plates, lever arms, a linkage assembly, bridge arms, upper pad assemblies, and lower pad assemblies. The lever arms are operative to pivot relative to the frame plates. The linkage assembly is pivotally coupled to the frame plates and to the lever arms. The bridge arms are pivotally coupled to the lever arms. The upper pad assemblies are pivotally coupled to the bridge arms. Lastly, the lower pad assemblies are pivotally coupled to the frame plates. Pivoting the lever arms in a first direction translates the upper pad assemblies towards the lower pad assemblies, and pivoting the lever arms in a second direction translates the upper pad assemblies away from the lower pad assemblies. Actuation of the linkage assembly is operative to cause the lever arms to pivot.

Such a configuration reduces the chances of inadvertent releases of a chain.

The apparatus comprises an attachment element, such as a hook, that is rotatably coupled to a locking plate. In use, the apparatus is operative to take on a plurality of locked states and an unlocked state. Each of the plurality of locked states is characterized by the locking plate being pressed into a cavity of a locking body in a manner that prevents the locking body, and, by extension, the attachment element from rotating. The unlocked state is characterized by the locking plate being outside the cavity, and thereby free to rotate. The attachment element is therefore capable of being swiveled between, and locked into, multiple orientations.

    Abstract: In the absence of centrifugal force produced during rotation of helicopter blades, damage may result if a blade is rotated upward by wind or other forces. Lock units removably appended between the rotor assembly and each blade pitch housing attached to a helicopter blade are usable to restrict upward rotation. A base portion of a lock unit may be configured to be held in position by a removable pin device. An extendible device extending from the base portion to a surface of a blade pitch housing can be adjusted to press the base portion back against a surface of the rotor assembly. The lock unit thereby restricts these surfaces of the blade pitch housing and rotor assembly from moving closer to each other and thereby restricts upward rotation of the blade pitch housing and its attached helicopter blade. The lock units are readily removable in preparation for returning a helicopter to active use.

    Abstract: A toggle device for attachment to a form-engaging assembly securable about the upper end of a concrete form. The toggle device can toggle between two different configurations. One configuration is suitable for attachment directly to a brace, and the other configuration is suitable for attachment to a nail plate on a brace. In one embodiment, the toggle device comprises a base plate to which an elongate first member is rigidly affixed. An elongate second member is connected to the first member by a sliding pivot connection. The sliding pivot connection is such that the second member can be moved from one position in which it is parallel to and overlapping with the first member, to another position in which it is generally perpendicular to the first member, to yet another position in which it is oblique to the first member.

    Abstract: Angled warp spikes enable secure attachment to the steel flooring of a railroad boxcar. Such flooring includes transverse slots with a curved depth profile. The warp spikes are designed to deform or warp as they are driven into a flooring slot and conform to the curved depth profile. Tiedown fixtures fabricated of steel plate can be attached to the floor of a boxcar by warp spikes driven through elongated openings in the fixture into slots in the boxcar flooring. Tiedown fixtures used with warp spikes provide a boxcar tiedown system to which tiedown load carrying members, such as cables, chains, braces and struts can be connected.
