  • Patent number: 9847632
Abstract: A cable termination system and method include providing an outer socket having a frustum shaped socket interior tapering from a base to a top opening. The outer socket is comprised of two semicircular socket pieces, each forming a portion of a complete circumference of the outer socket. A plurality of elongate cable strands extend through the socket interior with individual strands circumferentially spaced to form a single layer of strands at the base opening. A frustoconical inner plug is inserted into the socket by a compressive force exceeding a maximum tensile force of the stranded cable for holding the cable in the socket without slippage when a tensile force is applied between the cable and the outer socket. The inner plug includes a plurality of longitudinally extending, laterally separate plug subassemblies.

  • Patent number: 8841919
Abstract: A repairable waterproof connector assembly (200) provides an access port (212) within the connector housing (201) to support wire management required for removal and reinstallation of the electrical insert (202) which can be achieved without removing the connector assembly (200) from its cable. Adding this access capability greatly reduces the time required to repair a damaged connector assembly (200). Wire management within the connector assembly (200) includes manipulating a wiring service loop (207) via access provided by the access port (212). Wire management supports access to reposition, remove, test and repair the electrical insert (202) having electrical pins and contacts (211). In applications requiring waterproof connectors, having the ability to test and repair the connector assembly without removing or cutting it from its cable is a significant timesaver and reduces cost.

  • Patent number: 5727914
Abstract: Apparatus for removing surface irregularities, e.g. high spots, from the outside jacket or covering of a fiber optic cable. The apparatus includes sets of alternately spaced relatively thin blades, e.g. razor blades, accurately positioned on respective movable opposing slide assemblies with the mutually facing edges of the blades including a small groove or notch machined therein so as to form a round bore having a diameter equal to or slightly greater than the outside diameter of the cable's jacket when two sets of blades on the opposing slide assemblies are brought together in meshing relationship whereupon the surface irregularities on the jacket are removed by scraping or shaving of the cable's jacket when the fiber optic cable is pulled through or otherwise passes through the bore formed between the blades.
