  • Patent number: 10928507
Abstract: The present application generally relates to improve accuracy and sensitivity in a vehicular radar system through improved radar beamforming by initially detection of potential objects using a field of view image and image processing techniques. Specifically, a system and method are taught for performing object segmentation and/or contouring on an image corresponding to a radar field of view. The detected objects from the image are combined with the raw radar data to generate a beamformed radar data.

  • Publication number: 20200331613
Abstract: A passenger seat with a recliner sofa system includes a passenger seatback with a seatback frame and a seatback cushion. The seatback cushion is rotatable relative to the seatback frame between a stowed configuration and a deployed configuration. In some examples, in the deployed configuration, the seatback cushion extends through the seatback frame. In various examples, in the deployed configuration, the seatback cushion of a forward passenger seat abuts a seat base of an aft passenger seat. In certain examples, a method of reclining a passenger seat with a recliner sofa system includes rotating a seatback cushion of a seatback of a passenger seat relative to a seatback frame of the seatback of the passenger seat, and positioning the seatback cushion relative to the seatback frame such that a portion of the seatback cushion extends through the seatback frame.

  • Publication number: 20200116857
Abstract: A system and method for sensing precipitation conditions near a vehicle. The precipitation radar system is mounted on the vehicle and includes a transmitter, a receiver, and an electronic control unit. The method transmits radar signals from the transmitter; receives reflected radar signals at the receiver; determines response information from the reflected radar signals for a region of interest; and uses the response information to determine precipitation conditions for the region of interest. The region of interest is defined, at least in part, by a range and the response information includes phase data, amplitude data, or both phase and amplitude data based on the reflected radar signals. The method and system may then use the precipitation conditions to control other responsive vehicle actions, such as activating a windshield heater, a windshield defroster, a windshield wiper or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 9631480
Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to emit acoustic pulses into a drilling fluid in a well bore, using a first acoustic transducer in a downhole tool, and detecting the acoustic pulses after reflection from the wall of the well bore, using a second acoustic transducer in the downhole tool. The faces of the first and second acoustic transducers are non-parallel. Further activities include emitting additional acoustic pulses into the drilling fluid using the second acoustic transducer, and detecting them using the second acoustic transducer. The acoustic velocity of the drilling fluid can be determined based on respective travel times. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are described.
