  • Publication number: 20130228342
Abstract: Apparatus (10) for restricting a flow of fluid through a bore (14) comprises a bore sealing member (12a) and an actuation assembly for moving the bore sealing member (12a) between first and second configurations. The actuation assembly is configured to isolate first and second end portions (46, 48) of the activation member (12a) from a bore fluid (50). The apparatus (10) provides for moving the bore sealing member (12a) between the first and second configurations without a bore fluid (50) pressure acting on an end portion (46, 48) of the activation member (12a).

  • Publication number: 20110137679
Abstract: A computer-implemented method receives, into a computerized system, routine electronic transmissions such as a clinician order entry (CPOE) order message relating to a patient. The order message is used to identify one of a number of pre-established templates to create an individualized wellness plan. The method identifies data variables that need to be supplied for the wellness plan and identifies patient documentation related to the wellness plan. The method supplies the data variables and combines patient documentation into the wellness plan. The method identifies and includes dependency-awareness of tasks, reminders, and appointments within and across wellness plans. The method can customize the wellness plan according to clinician preferences and patient preferences, and can restrict access and content of the wellness plan.

  • Patent number: 7761341
Abstract: A system and method of automating and managing bids within the context of an Internet auction is disclosed. The present invention permits continuous monitoring and verification of auctions on the Internet based on criterion such as highest bid on an item, maximum permissible bid, and a restriction on the number of successful bids in the auctions by any given participant (0109). The present invention permits embodiments incorporating an auction profile database (0101) that is generated by an auction profile configuration tool (0102) to act as input to an item search manager (0104) that takes data from an item database (0105) and control from an item selector (0103) to then interact with an auction bid controller (0106) that communicates with the remote auction site via an auction command interface (0107).

  • Patent number: 7689202
Abstract: A method and system for providing personal and emergency service hailing. A profile database stores profiles with individualized distance thresholds for each of a number of wireless devices. A wireless message proximity request is received from a requesting wireless device. Distances between a location of the requesting wireless device and locations of each of other wireless communications devices is computed and compared to individualized distance thresholds stored for the requesting wireless communications device. A set of wireless devices consisting of wireless devices that satisfy the individualized distance thresholds for the requesting wireless communications device is identified and a wireless message proximity response is sent to the requesting wireless communications device. The wireless message proximity response identifies the set of wireless communications devices that satisfy the at least one individualized distance threshold.

  • Patent number: 7529537
Abstract: A method and system for determining each location and identifier of a plurality of wireless communication devices, computing a distance between a location of a requesting device and the location of each of the plurality of wireless communication devices. The system and method presents to a user of a requesting device a list of at least one of the plurality of wireless communication devices that satisfy a proximity requirement for the requesting device. The user can then select a presented one of the list of at least one of the plurality of wireless communication devices and initiate communications with the selected one wireless communication device. The system and method also can receive an alert notification request from the requesting device and send an alert notification, in response to the alert notification request, to a plurality of wireless communication devices satisfying a proximity requirement for the requesting device.

  • Publication number: 20080172262
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system making it possible to reduce a description of the impact of a disaster on the world at large to measurable, firm-specific operational and financial implications. This makes it possible to bridge the divide between disaster prediction and business planning by facilitating the translation of physical and other effects of a disaster on a business into a dollars-and-cents impact. The present invention also allows a user to evaluate the costs and benefits of various disaster mitigation plans and/or policies and to understand the combined effects of multiple mitigation plans.

  • Patent number: 7400711
Abstract: A method, system and program storage device are provided for interjecting messages into a real-time isochronous discourse (such as a telephone call) between a plurality of callers wherein the method, system and device accesses the call between the callers, monitors the discourse to determine if the discourse relates to a system message desired to be communicated to the caller, chooses and communicates the system message to the callers when the discourse is determined to be relevant to the system message and continues the above accessing, monitoring and communicating steps until the call being accessed between the callers is terminated. The interjected messages are primarily related to advertising and can be introduced to one or more callers, or, separate messages in different languages can be introduced to one or more callers depending on the caller's accessing the telephone. Caller subscribers of the system will typically have the cost of the call partly or totally subsidized by the method and system.

  • Publication number: 20080040192
Abstract: A calendar system stores and organizes materials related to scheduled events, to-dos, addresses, etc. and allows a user to browse a calendar and select entries for viewing. In addition, each entry is linked to any number of topics related to that entry and up-to-date information on these topics are displayed when the entry is viewed. Topics are published on topic channels by one or more topic providers and a calendar system administrator defines which topics relate to which calendar entries. When a client enters information related to a new calendar entry or event, the calendar system determines which topics relate to that event and identifies corresponding topic channels which currently exist or need to be created between the calendar system and the topic providers. Finally, in each calendar entry, links are created to local versions of the appropriate topic channels and the entry is then persistently stored.
