Patent number: 9625660Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fiber optic connector assembly having a fiber optic connector including a main connector body and a rear insert secured within a rear cable termination end of the main connector body. The fiber optic connector assembly has a fiber optic cable that includes an optical fiber, a strength layer and an outer jacket. The optical fiber has a ferrule-less end portion accessible at a front mating end of the main connector body. A first shape recoverable sleeve secures the optical fiber to a substrate anchored to the rear insert. An axial gap exists between the forward end of the outer jacket and the rearward end of the rear insert. A second shape recoverable sleeve secures the outer jacket to the rear insert. An adhesive material at least partially fills the axial gap.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2016Date of Patent: April 18, 2017Assignee: CommScope Connectivity Belgium BVBAInventors: Daniel Francois Daems, Danny Willy August Verheyden, Bart Vos

Patent number: 9575206Abstract: Neutron activation measurement techniques may be used to evaluate various properties of a subterranean well structure. In an example implementation, a logging tool can be positioned within a wellbore, such that neutrons generated by a neutron source are directed towards well structure. In response to the neutrons, the well structure emits gamma rays. A portion of the gamma rays can be detected by a gamma detector. To enhance the well structure's response to neutron activation, the well structure can be constructed of materials that include one or more doping materials. The inclusion of these doping materials can increase the number of gamma rays that are emitted when neutrons are directed into the well structure, and these emitted gamma rays can be more easily identified based on their energy level.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2014Date of Patent: February 21, 2017Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Weijun Guo, Daniel Francois Dorffer

Patent number: 7956992Abstract: A method is disclosed for testing optical fiber connection quality of an optical drop fiber between a telecommunications system and a subscriber connection box in a multi-dwelling unit or other subscriber premises before connection to other subscriber equipment. An end of the optical fiber to be tested is placed in a fiber-holding device, which holds the fiber end in alignment with a suitable reflective body. An optical signal is provided from the system direction which is reflected by the reflective body back towards the system. The reflected signal is detected by a suitable instrument, preferably an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR), to confirm acceptable signaling quality of the optical path between the system and the fiber end.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2007Date of Patent: June 7, 2011Assignee: Tyco Electronics Raychem NVInventors: Jan Watte, Luc Swinnen, Jan VandenBroeck, Daniel Francois Daems
