  • Patent number: 10931176
Abstract: An electric machine for an electrified vehicle includes a stator including windings and a bridge extending across the windings and in engagement with the windings. The electric machine further includes a temperature sensor assembly secured to the bridge. The temperature sensor assembly includes a retention housing having a base and spaced apart retention arms extending from the base. The temperature sensor assembly further includes a temperature sensor disposed within the retention housing. An adhesive is disposed between the retention housing and the bridge.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 6, 2018
Date of Patent: February 23, 2021
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC

  • Publication number: 20190275857
Abstract: A vehicle utilizes an internal combustion powertrain to propel front wheels and an Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) to propel rear wheels. In some circumstances, a controller may need to limit motor torque in the ERAD to avoid overheating the motor, which reduces fuel efficiency. To reduce the likelihood of needing to limit motor torque, refrigerant from the vehicle air conditioning system is circulated through the motor housing. In response to commands from a controller, a valve routes the refrigerant either through the air conditioning system evaporator or through the motor housing.

  • Publication number: 20120199326
Abstract: A heat exchanger includes an outer tube and an inner tube coaxially arranged within the outer tube. Both of the outer tube and the inner tube include a fluid channel formed therein. A first fluid flows through the fluid channel of the outer tube, and a second fluid, in heat exchange relationship with the first fluid, flows through the fluid channel of the inner tube. At least one heat conductive feature is formed between the outer tube and the inner tube, and on an inner surface of the inner tube to maximize a heat exchange between the fluids.

  • Patent number: 6179429
Abstract: An automotive vehicle illumination mechanism for an instrument cluster dial includes a transparent light guide having a generally planar front surface, at least one semi-circular light socket, and at least one dial socket, a light source arranged within the light socket for directing light into the light guide, a lens having a focal axis arranged adjacent the light source and within the light socket for collecting the light from the light source and transmitting the light with a predetermined spread angle toward the dial socket, and a plurality of reflective surfaces, distributed in a fan-like arrangement about the focal axis and intermediate the lens and the dial socket, for redirecting light received from the lens toward the dial.
