  • Patent number: 9198677
Abstract: A drill guide for use with a bone plate is provided in accordance with various aspects of the present teachings. The drill guide can include a body and a quick-connect coupling arrangement. The body can have a proximal end, a distal end and can define a guide passage therebetween. The distal end can have a bone plate engaging portion. The quick-connect coupling arrangement can be associated with the bone plate engaging portion, and can include first and second lobes projecting radially outward from an outer surface of the bone plate engaging portion. The bone plate engaging portion and the first and second lobes can be operable to be slidably received in a bone screw hole in the bone plate so as to removably couple the drill guide to the bone plate in a predetermined orientation relative to the bone screw hole.

  • Publication number: 20140371746
Abstract: An instrument assembly includes a handle and an instrument. The handle includes an inner member and an outer member. The inner member includes a rod and a tip, and the outer member defines a cannulation configured to receive the inner member. In one example, the instrument includes a protrusion, the tip defines a first pocket configured to receive the protrusion, and the cannulation includes a second pocket. When the protrusion is positioned in the first pocket and the outer member is positioned on the inner member with the second pocket spaced apart from the tip, the handle is adjustable at a desired angle relative to the instrument. When the protrusion is positioned in the first pocket and the second pocket engages the tip, the second pocket is configured to compress the tip radially inward such that the first pocket engages the protrusion and locks the handle at the desired angle.

The outer member can include a second tip and can define a cannulation. The instrument can define a pocket configured to receive the second tip of the outer member. The handle can be adjustable at a desired angle relative to the instrument when the second tip of the outer member is disposed in the pocket and the first tip of the inner member is positioned in the cannulation spaced apart from the second tip. The first tip can be configured to expand the second tip radially outward such that the second tip engages the pocket and locks the handle at the desired angle when the first tip is positioned in the cannulation in engagement with the second tip.

  • Patent number: 8572860
Abstract: An instrument for measuring a depth of a hole in bone can comprise an instrument body having a cannulated sleeve that extends between a first end and a second end. A first reference portion can be disposed at the first end and a second reference portion can be disposed at the second end. A probe can selectively and alternatively translate in first and second opposite directions through the cannulated sleeve between a first measuring position and a second measuring position. The probe extends outwardly a distance spaced from the first reference portion in the first measuring position and extends outwardly a distance spaced from the second reference portion in the second measuring position.
