  • Publication number: 20220313920
Abstract: An apparatus for a firing mechanism 102 for use in an injection device 100 and comprising: a rear cap 104 having an elongate member 110 extending axially forwards when installed within the injection device; a plunger 106 releasably connected, directly or indirectly, to the elongate member and, upon release of the connection to the elongate member, axially displaceable in a forward direction; and a plunger driver 112 to drive the plunger axially forwards upon release of the connection to the elongate member, wherein the plunger and the rear cap define an axial length of the assembly, which in turn determines a start position of a forward end of the plunger before release of the connection to the elongate member, and wherein, during construction of the assembly, the plunger is releasably connectable, directly or indirectly, to the elongate member at one of a plurality of positions for controlling the axial length of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 11369745
Abstract: Disclosed is an injection device including a body for receiving a syringe, a firing mechanism including a reaction component, a plunger configured to be axially displaced in a forward direction relative to the reaction component, and a drive spring located between the reaction component and the plunger for driving the plunger forwards upon activation of the injection device, wherein the reaction component provides a reaction surface for the drive spring. The device further includes a locking mechanism for locking the reaction component in a first axial position within the body, the locking mechanism being configured to release the reaction component upon a predefined forward movement of the plunger thereby allowing the reaction component to be driven in a rearward axial direction by the drive spring until it impacts against the body or a component secured to the body to thereby emit an audible indication of an end of dose.

  • Publication number: 20210361881
Abstract: An injection device comprising a body for receiving a syringe, a firing mechanism comprising a plunger configured to be axially displaced in a forward direction within the body and a driver system for driving the plunger forwards upon activation of the injection device, and a lockout shroud telescopically coupled to a forward end of the body so that it projects from the forward end at least immediately prior to activation in order to shroud a syringe needle. The device further comprises a biasing member for biasing the lockout shroud in a forward direction relative to the body, the lockout shroud being coupled to the firing mechanism such that a first predefined rearward movement of the shroud relative to the body releases the driver system to drive the plunger forward, and a lockout shroud inhibitor configured to provide increased resistance to rearward movement of the lockout shroud following a second predefined rearward movement of the lockout shroud, less than said first predefined rearward movement.

  • Publication number: 20210353860
Abstract: A housing suitable for use with one of a plurality of containers containing a medical substance, wherein the plurality of containers have different outer diameters, the housing comprising: one or more internal projections at a distal side of the housing for blocking distal movement of a first container when the first container is received within the housing, wherein the first container has a first external diameter; one or more inwardly projecting ridges provided proximally from said one or more internal projections, wherein the ridges are suitable for blocking distal movement of a container holder which holds a second container when the container holder is received within the housing, wherein the second container has a second external diameter which is smaller than the first external diameter.
