  • Publication number: 20210389968
Abstract: An edge controller may be used for obtaining device data from one or more local devices at a local facility and to provide a representation of at least some of the device data to a remote server. The edge controller may include a network communication port, a cellular communication port and a device communication port. A controller is operatively coupled to the network communication port, the cellular communication port and the device communication port and is configured to receive configuration information and to install the received configuration information on the edge controller. The installed configuration information configures the controller to obtain the device data from the one or more local devices and to send a representation of at least some of the device data to the remote server.

  • Publication number: 20160292400
Abstract: A system and approach for providing software device or secure digital (SD) cards for computing devices. An SD card may be programmed with a unique card identification register (CID) value during a manufacture of the card. The CID value cannot necessarily be changed by a card host such as a computing device. A securely signed license may be generated with the CID value (or a hash of the CID value) as part of the license's plaintext. The license may be stored on the card with the CID value. The card may be installed in virtually any computing device that supports the card. The card may be easily removed from the computing device and installed in another computing device or be placed in a storage mechanism. The license may be treated as portable like the card.

  • Patent number: 8448023
Abstract: A system for providing data integrity in an embedded device environment. One approach is operating an embedded control engine with non-battery backup power and providing data backup with inexpensive memory. Just data having changes may be provided to a volatile memory such as an SRAM module. After an accumulation of a certain amount of data, the data may be moved onto a relatively larger non-volatile memory, such as an NVRAM module or other type of flash memory. Non-battery backup power may maintain the SRAM module for a period after a power loss, so as to retain data. After restoration of power, data from NVRAM and SRAM modules may be read by the backup service to recreate the last known state of the control engine before the power loss.
