Abstract: Automotive colorcoat paint compositions containing special effect pigment are disclosed. The special effect pigments include mica and the resultant paint composition has been especially useful in refinish paints.

Abstract: A recirculation system associated with an automated dosing apparatus employs pressurized supply canisters for flowable materials to be dosed and a recirculation loop which permits the flowable materials to be recirculated through the dosing head and returned to the pressurized supply canisters. The recirculation system includes a buffer reservoir which is fluid-connected to both the dosing head and the pressurized supply canister. During a recirculation mode, the flowable material supplied to the dosing head will be caused to recirculate through channels defined in the dosing head and thereafter be directed to the buffer reservoir. The recirculated paint will accumulate in the buffer reservoir until the recirculation mode has been completed. At that time, a transfer mode will be initiated so as to cause the buffer reservoir to be pressurized greater than the pressure existing in the stock canister.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for depositing a primer of programmed color on an object are described. In the method, a neutral primer base and at least one mono- or poly-pigmented paste are fed independently to a projection or spray device such an electrostatic deposition device comprising a rotary bowl. The base and paste are mixed in the device simultaneously while being projected or sprayed on the object.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process for applying an anti-corrosive coating upon metallic objects.A paint containing more than 90% by weight of pulverulent zinc in relation to the dry extract is applied to the previously shot cleaned surface of the metallic object. After drying and hardening of this paint, one applies thereon, by electrostatic means, a powdered resin capable of adhering to the zinc upon polymerization and thereafter polymerization of said resin is brought about.
