  • Patent number: 10125765
Abstract: A fluid pump system for an engine includes a transmission acting as a first pump and a second pump. In one embodiment, the first pump is a scavenge pump and the second pump is a pressure pump with the transmission being a gear set for altering a drive ratio between a transmission input drive and an input drive of the second pump, thereby allowing additional control of a speed of the second pump in comparison to the engine. The transmission, acting as a scavenge pump, can provide a scavenge pump function to an oil pan of the engine, returning engine oil that is present there from both normal drain back and acceleration/deceleration forces.

  • Patent number: 8690507
Abstract: A load bearing assembly includes a first outer washer having an outwardly exposed annular surface for engaging a clamping surface of a fastener and a second outer washer having an annular surface outwardly exposed in an opposite direction from the outwardly exposed annular surface of the first outer washer, the outwardly exposed annular surface of the second outer washer for engaging a clamping surface of an object to which the fastener exerts a clamping force. An intermediate washer is positioned between the first outer washer and the second outer washer. A locking mechanism engages between the first and second outer washers to axially interconnect the washers together in a stacked configuration with the intermediate washer positioned between the first and second outer washers and in a manner so that the washers are rotatable with respect to one another.

  • Patent number: 7334550
Abstract: A camshaft for an internal combustion engine includes a cam lobe for actuating a valve. The cam lobe has an opening ramp profile that acts to loft the valve gear away from contact with the cam lobe to a maximum lift of the valve, with the valve gear returning to contact with a closing ramp of the cam lobe sufficiently in advance of a minimum cam lobe closing ramp height so as to dissipate enough closing energy of the valve to minimize valve bounce after the valve contacts a corresponding valve seat.

  • Patent number: 7028653
Abstract: A roller rocker mounting mechanism for an internal combustion engine valve actuating mechanism includes a first rocker stand having a first locating boss and a second rocker stand having a second locating boss. An indexing link has a first portion separably attachable to the first locating boss and a second portion separably attachable to the second locating boss to connect the first rocker stand and the second rocker stand in a manner that prevents rotation of either rocker stand when the rocker stands are attached to the cylinder head.

  • Patent number: 6976462
Abstract: A double roller cam follower includes a longitudinal beam having a first end and a second end, a cam roller rotationally mounted on the beam for engaging a cam lobe and a valve stem roller rotationally mounted on the second end of the beam for engaging a valve stem. The cam roller includes a stepped outer circumference having a larger diameter at its sides to engage the cam lobe and a smaller diameter positioned centrally between the flanking larger diameters to provide clearance between the cam roller and the valve stem roller.

  • Patent number: 6591713
Abstract: A modular camshaft assembly having an elongated shaft, at least one cam lobe assembly, at least one spacer assembly, and a cam adapter assembly is disclosed. Each cam lobe assembly is selectively secured to the elongated shaft. Each spacer assembly is secured to the elongated shaft, wherein the spacer assembly is selectively positioned adjacent the cam lobe assembly. The cam adapter assembly is secured to the elongated shaft and adapted to connect the modular camshaft assembly to a drive assembly.

  • Patent number: 5746167
Abstract: To increase available space for intake ports in an internal combustion pushrod type overhead valve engine, pushrod and pushrod bores running adjacent the ports are repositioned away from the ports. New valve lifters are provided with pushrod seats which are offset in the desired direction. Further offset is also provided by boring new valve lifter bores for the new valve lifters, which valve lifter bores have longitudinal axes that are also offset in the desired direction. Rocker arms are also provided with pushrod seats being offset in the same direction and by the same magnitude as the offset pushrod seats and the valve lifters. This offsetting of the pushrods away from the adjacent ports allows additional space for increasing the size and cross-sectional area of the ports to increase the breathing and power of the engine.
