  • Publication number: 20240033843
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for controlling a welding machine comprising an electrode lead and a workpiece lead connectible to one of a plurality of welding platforms. An example method comprises determining if the workpiece lead is connected to a desired welding platform mounting a workpiece to be welded, and only applying a welding current to the electrode lead when the workpiece lead is connected to the desired welding platform. Determining if the workpiece lead is connected to the desired welding platform may comprise applying a probing current to the electrode lead and contacting the electrode lead to a workpiece mounted on one of the plurality of welding platforms, and monitoring current through ground connections of the welding platforms and determining that the workpiece lead is connected to the desired welding platform if less than a threshold current level is detected flowing through any ground connection.

  • Publication number: 20230294192
Abstract: Disclosed is a system having a robotic welding apparatus configured to weld metal sections together along a seam, an input device configured to produce positioning input for the robotic welding apparatus while welding, and a controller configured to control the robotic welding apparatus in accordance with (i) a recording state in which operation of the robotic welding apparatus is controlled and recorded while welding in a root pass based on the positioning input to produce recorded positioning data, and (ii) an automatic state in which operation of the robotic welding apparatus is automatically controlled while welding in a subsequent pass based on the recorded positioning data. In accordance with an embodiment, motion of the robotic welding apparatus is selectively recorded such that the recorded positioning data utilized in the automatic state omits (i) initial transient motions of the robotic welding apparatus and/or (ii) stop-start motions of the robotic welding apparatus.

  • Patent number: 11739795
Abstract: A spline coupling comprises a male spline member having male spline teeth and a female spline member having female spline teeth complementary to and engaged with the male spline teeth. One or more of the female spline teeth has a tooth height lesser than a tooth height of another one or more of the female spline teeth. The tooth height of the one or more of the female spline teeth is defined by a top land surface of the one or more of the female spline teeth. The tooth height of the other one or more of the female spline teeth is defined by a top land surface of the other one or more of the female spline teeth. A drainage hole in the top land surface of the one or more of the female spline teeth passes through the one or more of the female spline teeth.

  • Patent number: 11586419
Abstract: A processing system includes a pseudo-random bit sequence (PRBS) control unit and a PRBS generator that is used to dynamically generate a PRBS from, for example, a first PRBS and a second PRBS. The PRBS generator is coupled to the PRBS control unit. The PRBS generator generates the second PRBS by dynamically adjusting from a first set of flip-flops of a master set of flip-flops that generate the first PRBS to a second set of flip-flops of the first master set of flip-flops that generate the second PRBS. The PRBS generator includes a plurality of PRBS logic engines coupled to a first PRBS multiplexer, the first PRBS multiplexer being used to select either the first PRBS or the second PRBS that is output by the PRBS generator.

  • Patent number: 11358703
Abstract: A monolithic joint system for a fuselage to wing joint in an aircraft is provided. The joint system comprises a first vertical flange, a base plate, a second vertical flange, and damage containment features associated with at least one of these components. The first vertical flange is configured to connect to a fuselage section of the aircraft and the second vertical flange is configured to connect to a rib web of a wing, while the base plate attaches outboard wing to inboard wing box. The first vertical flange, the base plate, and the second vertical flange are formed from a continuous piece of material. The damage containment features are configured to slow propagation of an active crack tip in the joint system during operation of the aircraft. Thus, the illustrative embodiments provide a one-piece joint system for the fuselage to wing joint of an aircraft.
