  • Patent number: 9226078
Abstract: Acoustic transducers may, in certain aspects, include a curved diaphragm and an actuator coupled to the curved diaphragm to cause movement of the curved diaphragm. In certain embodiments, the curved diaphragm has at least one free edge. The left and right edges of the curved diaphragm may be associated with auxiliary supports. The acoustic transducer can be a multi-pole loudspeaker wherein a curved diaphragm radiates the sound energy in a modified dipole pattern. The curvature of the radiating surface of the transducer reduces sound cancellation from sound energy reflected by nearby surfaces.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2014
Date of Patent: December 29, 2015
    Assignee: Emo Labs, Inc.
Inventors: Daniel Hedges, Stefan Bokaemper, Terrence Keith Jones
  • Publication number: 20140270327
Abstract: The invention generally relates to acoustic transducers. In certain aspects, the acoustic transducer includes a curved diaphragm and an actuator coupled to the curved diaphragm to cause movement of the curved diaphragm. In certain embodiments, the curved diaphragm has at least one free edge. In other embodiments, the left and right edges of the curved diaphragm are associated with auxiliary supports. In another embodiment, the acoustic transducer is a multi-pole loudspeaker wherein a curved diaphragm radiates the sound energy in a modified dipole pattern. The curvature of the radiating surface of the transducer reduces sound cancellation from sound energy reflected by nearby surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20140270192
Abstract: The invention generally relates to acoustic transducers. In certain aspects, the acoustic transducer includes a speaker in the base of the transducer for emitting acoustic energy at a first range of frequencies. The transducer may also include a diaphragm coupled to the base that is configured to emit acoustic energy at a second range of frequencies. Transducers of the invention may also include at least one actuator coupled to the diaphragm to cause movement of the diaphragm and thus, the acoustic energy at the second range of frequencies.

  • Patent number: 8381734
Abstract: A patient stabilizing strap includes a base strap, which is removably attachable to a planar surface. At least one receiving portion is secured to the planar surface by the base strap. At least one elongate stabilizing portion has longitudinally spaced first and second stabilizing portion ends separated by a stabilizing portion body. Each first stabilizing portion end is removably attachable to a receiving portion to secure the stabilizing portion to the planar surface. Each second stabilizing portion end is removably attachable to an other second stabilizing portion end to encircle at least a portion of a patient body in cooperation with the planar surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 8, 2010
