Publication number: 20240126399Abstract: Systems and methods may provide for generating, maintaining, and using an inventory for insurance purposes. An optimized inventory analysis server may use a demographic classification for a given user along with data related to items owned by other users to determine one or more items for recommendation to the given user. Details associated with existing insurance coverage levels may also be used to recommend new insurance products to the user. In addition, the optimized inventory analysis server may determine a depreciated value of each item within an inventory. These values may be used to assess loss and settle an insurance claim for damage to one or more of the items in the inventory. Finally, the optimized inventory analysis server may recommend incentives on products/services sold by third party entities and may further recommend incentives on insurance products for insuring items purchased by a given user.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2023Publication date: April 18, 2024Inventors: William Loo, Stephen Hughes, James Gillespie, Jennifer A. Publication number: 20240104063Abstract: Embodiments are directed to managing file systems. Update information associated with a change of a metric associated with a target object may be provided. A journal that includes a base bin that includes base records that associate the metric with each object in the file system. Records that include the change of the metric associated with the ancestors of target object may be generated. Another record that includes the change of the metric associated with the target object may be generated. A level bin associated with the base bin of the journal may be provided based on the update information. The records may be stored in the level bin using a sort order based on the ordering of the base bin records. In response a query, the journal may be employed to reduce latency in generating query results.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Jeffrey Hughes, Daniel Hefenbrock, Triantaphyllos Rakitzis

Patent number: 11203873Abstract: A two-piece baluster shoe and method for installation thereof on a baluster are provided. The baluster shoe is configured to engage with a baluster adjacent the connection of a baluster to a rail without the use of a discrete mechanical fastener, such as a set screw. The baluster shoe features an integrated resilient spring tongue that engages with the baluster, thereby securing the baluster shoe in place relative to the baluster and forcing the baluster shoe against the adjacent rail. The baluster shoe is formed in two shoe portions that snap together or otherwise are engaged with connector elements when positioned at the desired location adjacent a joint of the baluster with the rail, which can occur after the baluster is engaged with the rail.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2020Date of Patent: December 21, 2021Inventor: Daniel Hughes

Patent number: 11194648Abstract: Aspects of the invention include receiving an error code describing a computer hardware or firmware error. A list of data items to be collected to assist in correcting the error is received. The contents of the list are selected based at least in part on the error code and are in priority order. The data items in the list are collected and a buffer to store the collected data items is selected. At least a subset of the collected data items to be written is transmitted to the buffer. All of the collected data items are transmitted to the buffer when the buffer is large enough to hold all of the data items in the list. A subset of the collected data items are transmitted to the buffer in priority order when the buffer is not large enough to hold all of the data in the list.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2021Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Richard Mark Sczepczenski, George Kuch, Daniel Hughes, Pascal Bastien, Luke Hopkins, Mahmoud Amin, Dan Vangor, Ying-Yeung Li, Myron Wisniewski, Margaret Frances Kaelin Dubowsky, Anmar A Al Zubaydi

Publication number: 20190076682Abstract: The present system for fall restraint includes a mounting frame connected to a trigger mechanism and firing blocks, with a trigger cable extending through apertures in the mounting frame and trigger mechanism. Sudden movement by a user, such as a fall, actuates the trigger mechanism to trigger the firing blocks. The firing blocks are loaded with anchors and firing cartridges. Triggering the firing blocks causes the cartridges to fire, propelling the anchors into an anchoring surface, such as a roof. Because the user is connected to the trigger cable, once the anchors deploy the user is anchored to the roof and their fall arrested.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2018Publication date: March 14, 2019Applicant: Auburn UniversityInventors: David Dyer, Paul Holley, Zack Kohrman, Shay Hunsucker, Carson Cooper, Matthew Sasser, Russell Brumfield, Phillip Sparks, Wesley Jernigan, Stephen Byrd, Kartik Goyal, Daniel Hughes, Tyler Sherer, David Carrell, Jim Flaniken, Chris Gaddes
