  • Publication number: 20250329002
Abstract: The invention provides a computer implemented method and system modify the appearance of a readable text, said method comprising the steps of obtaining a data text to be adjusted wherein the data text is representative of a readable text; selecting a filtering model and filtering parameters dependent on an analysis of said data text; applying a spatial transformation to the data text according to the selected filtering model and filtering parameters to generate a modified data text having a different spatial contrast characteristic; and outputting the modified data text as a readable text. The invention provides a method to alter the spatial frequency information in text to create a spatial frequency profile that closely resembles a natural outdoor environment, while at the same time preserving the spatial detail required to retain the informational content of the text.

  • Patent number: 12201455
Abstract: A system is provided for determining a risk indicator for myopia. The system comprises a wearable device configured to be attached to a body of a user. The wearable device comprises at least one distance sensor configured to determine at least a first distance value indicative of a distance between the wearable device and an object located in a central vision zone of the user and a second distance value indicative of a distance between the wearable device and an object located in a peripheral vision zone of the user. The system further comprises a control unit configured to determine, based on the first distance value and the second distance value, a risk indicator for myopia. Further, a method and a computer program product are provided.

  • Patent number: 10592901
Abstract: Controlled Payment Numbers (CPNs) which issue as a unique payment number for each transaction uniquely identify the transaction for matching the purchase and payment information. The issuance of the CPN is controlled by business rules which are designed to and effectively restrict the use of the CPN, such that if a user exceeds his authorization, a CPN is not issued. The business rules are set up according to a hierarchy of users. Further, a declining balance CPN is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9898730
Abstract: A credit card system is provided which has the added feature of providing additional limited use credit card numbers and/or cards. These numbers and/or cards can be used for a single or limited use transaction, thereby reducing the potential for fraudulent reuse of these numbers and/or cards. The credit card system finds application to “card remote” transactions such as by phone or Internet. Additionally, when a single use or limited use credit card is used for “card present” transactions, so called “skimming” fraud is eliminated. Various other features enhance the credit card system which will allow secure trade without the use of elaborate encryption techniques. Methods for limiting, distributing and using a limited use card number, controlling the validity of a limited use credit card number, conducting a limited use credit card number transaction and providing remote access devices for accessing a limited use credit card number are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8769043
Abstract: The discloses method and apparatus (“system”) enables users to: generate a map of computer servers visited while browsing, calculate the total distance travelled on the web, earn “Goosemiles” or travel points for the distance surfed on the web, earn bonus points for being the first member to access a specific site or web-page, leave an electronic flag or message for other users or specific users who visit the site later, set-up guided annotated tours of the web or “Goose hunts” for specific members or group of members where messages are left on a series of sites with each providing a clue to the next link in the chain until they reach the final site or prize. Also, phishing attacks are spotted by alerting them if a familiar site is located in a different location.

  • Publication number: 20120303439
Abstract: A system that controls what information can reach a user via an electronic or electrical communications device and under what circumstances is disclosed. The controls can be set by the user, e.g., an individual or an authorised person acting in a supervisory role. This provides a configurable communication inclusion and exclusion zone. Only communications that meet predefined or dynamically configured rules are presented to the user. These rules determine who can contact a user, when they can be contacted, where they can be contacted, with what message content and by which route. Users can thereby fully control how they receive communications or advertising messages. The platform also integrates payment capabilities to allow users to be paid for delivery of marketing messages with cash, cash equivalents, vouchers or premium media content such as news stories, music or films.

  • Publication number: 20110173174
Abstract: A search enhancement system (whether linked through an API to a search engine or integral to a search engine) creates a series of different narrow searches through the selective use of synonyms, hyponyms for a narrower search, hypernyms for a broader search, and antonyms for a reverse search. Lexical analysis can also be used to create alternative narrow searches. This allows a user to explore different nuances of meaning in an original search phrase until the user finds what he or she wants, while keeping individual searches narrow, thus leading to more focused search results.
