  • Patent number: 9921683
Abstract: Defects in a touch sensor are detected by coupling the sensor lines to a common signal line. Each of the sensor lines is tested by disconnecting the sensor line from the common signal line, connecting it to a voltage (e.g., ground) and comparing the voltage on the common signal line to a reference voltage. Detected defects include a short circuit between any two transmit and/or receive lines and a short between any transmit or receive line to ground.

  • Patent number: 8988263
Abstract: A system such as a mechanically tuned radio can have a signal path to receive and process an incoming radio frequency (RF) signal and to provide the processed signal to a first analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to convert the processed signal to a digital signal and to digitally demodulate the digital signal to obtain an audio signal, where this first ADC is separate from an auxiliary ADC not part of the signal path.

  • Patent number: 8671351
Abstract: A data format provides a mechanism to dynamically change the appearance of an application. During operation, the application obtains streaming feed data for presentation to a user. The feed data may be formatted according to a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) data format. The application detects, within the feed data, branding extensions that identify branding content to be displayed concurrently with channel data and content items when a user selects a channel defined by the feed data. The application detects a user selection of the channel defined by the feed data, and in response, references the branding extensions to obtain and display the branding content within a display region of the application that is separate from the content presentation region of the application for display of content items defined within the feed data.

  • Patent number: 8589368
Abstract: A media player monitors a media feed (e.g., a web feed) for availability of newly published content available over a network. Via the feed, the media player can receive notification that certain retrievable content (e.g., the same content or substantially similar content) is available from multiple different locations over the network. The notification can include multiple pointers for use by the media player to retrieve the content. For example, a first pointer of the multiple pointers can identify a first remote location over the network in which to retrieve the content, a second pointer can identify a second remote location over the network in which to retrieve the content, and so on. The media player can have an associated download manager that selects an appropriate one of the pointers to retrieve the content depending on which of one or more download by applications resides on a computer system.

  • Publication number: 20130169340
Abstract: A technique includes charging and discharging a capacitive sensor of a display. The technique includes regulating currents that are associated with the charging and discharging based at least in part on a reference time interval and determining a capacitance sensed by the capacitive sensor based at least in part on the regulating.

  • Patent number: 8386588
Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for a serial subscriber to provide an RSS feed that is updated according to the user's consumption of serialized content. The serial subscriber creates a subscription request to receive a feed of serialized content from a content source, the feed comprising a plurality of episode references to episodes of the serialized content. The serial subscriber defines a subscription point relative to at least one episode reference within the feed of serialized content to designate where to parse the serialized content for downloading at least one episode of the serialized content. The serial subscriber creates a graphical representation of the at least one downloaded episode and monitors playback of the at least one downloaded episode to update the feed of serialized content with respect to the subscription point.

  • Patent number: 7954068
Abstract: A method, computer system and computer readable medium regarding an extensible master-slave user interface with distinct interaction models is presented. A slave region is displayed in a Graphical User Interface (GUI), the slave region displaying a current state. A master region is displayed in the GUI, the master region displaying a previous state. When a user selects content in the slave region then the master region is removed from the GUI, a new master region is displayed in the GUI, the new master region containing a view of contents of the slave region, the slave region is removed from the GUI and the content selected by the user is displayed in a new slave region in the GUI.

  • Patent number: 7738851
Abstract: A technique includes providing a plurality of local oscillator signals such that each of the local oscillator signals has a different phase. The technique includes providing scaling units to scale the input signal pursuant to different scaling factors to generate scaled input signals. The scaling factors are selected on a periodic function of the phases. The technique also includes providing mixing circuits to mix the local oscillator signals with the scaled input signals to generate mixed signals and providing an adder to combine the mixed signals to generate an output signal.
