  • Patent number: 9227482
Abstract: A vehicle cabin air conditioning apparatus including an airflow selecting mechanism movable between a first position to provide a first airflow mode and a second position to provide a second airflow mode. The airflow selecting mechanism restricts first airflow from flowing from a first airflow conduit to a second airflow conduit when in the first position, and permits the first airflow from flowing from the first airflow conduit to the second airflow conduit when in the second position. An electronic control unit is configured to control a first blower based on a user set front cabin airflow level and a second blower based on a user set rear cabin airflow level when in the first airflow mode. The electronic control unit controls the first blower based on the user set front cabin airflow level and the user set rear cabin airflow level when in the second airflow mode.

  • Patent number: 8869876
Abstract: A case for a heating, ventilating and cooling system may include a shell and a plurality of fins. The shell may define an interior volume and may include an air inlet, a first air outlet and a second air outlet. The interior volume may define an airflow path between the air inlet and the first and second air outlets. The shell may be in fluid communication with a blower. The plurality of fins may be disposed in the airflow path between the air inlet and the first and second outlets. The plurality of fins may extend into the interior volume to distribute a first predetermined airflow amount to the first air outlet and a second predetermined airflow amount to the second air outlet.

  • Publication number: 20120252340
Abstract: An air-conditioning apparatus for a vehicle cabin has an air-conditioning case defining a plurality of air intake modes. The plurality of air intake modes includes an ambient air intake mode, and a double-layered air intake mode. The double-layered air intake mode supplies ambient air to a front side of the vehicle cabin via a front air passage, and supplies a recirculation air from the vehicle cabin to the rear side of the vehicle cabin via a rear air passage. The controller controls the air-conditioning case to switch the air intake mode from the double-layered air intake mode to the ambient air intake mode, when an evaporator temperature falls below a first threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20110244777
Abstract: An air duct system may employ an HVAC case having an exit air duct and a return air duct, a windshield with an interior surface, an approximately vertical duct, and a horizontal duct. Ducts mount to the windshield and each define an interior passageway with the interior surface of the windshield and a second, return air, passageway. The interior passageway may receive air from the exit air duct and the second passageway may return air to the return air duct. End chambers of each duct reverse air direction 180 degrees. Air of each interior passageway may warm an adjacent area of the windshield that forms part of each interior passageway and a windshield wiper. The first air duct interior passageway may warm a windshield area coincident with a maximum non-park wiper position and the second air duct interior passageway may warm a windshield area coincident with a wiper park position.
