  • Publication number: 20040111048
Abstract: The present invention provides a medical device and treatment method for chronic venous insufficiency and related medical conditions. The device is an inflatable stocking which, when inflated, applies pressure to the foot and lower leg of a patient. The device has several sections that are inflatable to different pressures so that gradient pressure may be applied. The sections are vertically disposed so that greatest pressure is applied to the foot and lower portion of the lower leg, somewhat less pressure is applied to the middle portion of the lower leg, and the least pressure is applied to the upper section of the lower leg. The device surrounds the entire treatment area so that the treated area will not swell.
