Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program for managing a configuration file including device parameters that define attributes of the device accessed by a device driver executing in a computer. The device driver uses the device parameters to control one or more devices in communication with the computer. A determination is made of device parameters provided with the device driver for a device, wherein the device parameters are maintained external to the configuration file. User selection of at least one of the determined device parameters is received and a parameter code for each selected device parameter is written to the configuration file.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and apparatus for indicating a failover data path in a graphical user interface environment is provided. The method includes graphically displaying at least one source device; graphically displaying at least one target device; graphically displaying a first data path between at least one source device and at least one target device; and in response to a failure in the first data path: graphically indicating the failure in the first data path; and graphically displaying a failover data path.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system and article of manufacture for network management. Information is discovered on at least one client of a plurality of clients managed by a server. The discovered information is compared to rules related to the management of the plurality of clients, wherein the rules are for examining prior operational history and current operation of the at least one client. Based on the comparison, an update is recognized to be applied to the at least one client, wherein the update includes an executable that can be automatically installed on the at least one client. The update is pushed to the at least one client, wherein the discovering, comparing, recognizing and pushing are controlled by the server.

At least one queue is maintained in a service computer indicating at least one customer requesting product support for the at least one product. Requests for customer service are received from customer computers used by customers over a network. Transmitted to the customer computers of customers indicated in the queue is chat session content between a technical support agent and one customer indicated in the queue.

Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program for generating an installation package for an application. The application is intended to execute on an operating system of an end user computer. A translator program installed on the end user computer converts code in the application to native operating system commands. Provided are the application and a launcher program including code to perform operations on an end user computer including the operating system to launch the application. A launcher application including code to call the launcher program is accessed.
