Patent number: 9966708Abstract: A one-piece electrical fitting for connecting an electrical cable to a junction box, the electrical fitting including a tubular connector body including a leading end, a trailing end, a cap, an inner bore, and one or more grounding tangs and locking tangs. The grounding tangs include flanges and the locking tangs include free ends. A seat extends between the flanges of the grounding tangs and the free end of the locking tangs. One or more cable retaining tangs extend inward from the connector body into the inner bore. The electrical fitting is stamped and formed from a flat blank of metal. A tab and notch arrangement on the blank facilitates forming the blank into the tubular connector body. The fitting provides electrical continuity between the electrical cable, the fitting, and the junction box and stain relief to resist inadvertent removal of the electrical cable from the fitting.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2017Date of Patent: May 8, 2018Assignee: ARLINGTON INDUSTRIES, INC.Inventors: Thomas J. Patent number: 9647439Abstract: A liquid-tight and concrete-tight electrical fitting for securing PVC jacketed metal clad (PVC-MC) electrical cable to an electrical box or panel. The electrical fitting includes a tubular fitting body having a threaded inbound and outbound end, an MC ring, a grommet, a bushing, a sealing ring, a locknut, and a gland nut. The grommet includes an inbound end with a conical outer surface and an outbound end with a flat abutment surface. A conical inner surface is provided on the bushing for engaging the conical outer surface of the grommet. The MC ring is a continuous ring including an inbound end, an outbound end, a ring portion, and one or more fingers extending from the ring portion. The fitting facilitates liquid-tight and concrete-tight connection and proper electrical grounding of PVC-MC cable to an electrical box or panel.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2016Date of Patent: May 9, 2017Assignee: Arlington Industries, Inc.Inventors: Thomas J. Patent number: 5543582Abstract: A cord grip in which two screw fittings provide a variable volume chamber for compressing a flexible soft durometer grommet held within a flexible annular cord gripping member. The cord gripping member is of a harder durometer than the grommet and has a plurality of fingers for gripping the cord. The combination of the hard durometer cord gripping member and the soft durometer grommet provides positive gripping action and a liquid tight seal on the cord when the variable volume chamber within the fittings is in the compressed state.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1995Date of Patent: August 6, 1996Inventors: Thomas S. Stark, Thomas J. Gretz, Daniel J. O'Neil

Patent number: 5410104Abstract: A low profile strain relief cord grip is disclosed. The cord grip may be used in applications where a large number of conductors require their ganging in close proximity to one another in a panel or junction box. This cord grip provides strain relief on the cable, holding the cable from pulling out of the panel or from putting any strain on the terminal connections within. The cord grip is designed to be easily constructed and mass produced and does not require the use of complex dies as do some of the popular cord grips in common use in the industry today. The cord grip provides a liquid-tight seal, allowing its use indoors or outdoors. A wide range of cable sizes may be utilized with one size of cord grip. It utilizes a compressible one-piece grommet having an inner sleeve with lips in contact with the cable and an outer array of wedges that mate with a compression cone for compressing the grommet's periphery in an inward direction to tightly grip the cable in a water tight manner.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1993Date of Patent: April 25, 1995Assignee: Arlington Industries Inc.Inventors: Thomas J. Gretz, Daniel J. O'Neil
