Abstract: An Internet-based remote monitoring and control system for monitoring and controlling automated facilities comprising of one or more automation means and one or more communication means located at the facilities, a service means, wherein the service means interfaces with a protocol adaptation means, interaction means having at least one interface presentation means and one or more input/output means. The system establishes an Internet-based first connection between an automation means and the service means where the connection is facilitated by a communication means that acts as a transparent proxy. The system transfers ‘automation means monitoring and controlling data’ to and from the protocol adaptation means through the first connection which further enables a second connection between itself and an interaction means, and translates and transfers ‘automation means monitoring and controlling data’ to and from the interaction means which is monitored and controlled by a user.

Abstract: A switch adapted to make and/or break a connection in an electric circuit to operate a device has a front to face the user and a rear to face away from the user, a housing, and switch mechanism. The switch mechanism includes in operative connection, a lens facing the front, an information element, a control element, a lighting element, a capacitive sensing element and a power element to operate the lighting element and sensing element. The switch includes a communication element to provide electrical connection to the device and is activated by the control element when a change in capacitance is sensed by the capacitive sensing element such that the information element and lighting element can be viewed through the lens and the device is operated.

Abstract: An automatic toilet seat cleaning unit comprises a cabinet adapted to receive at least one toilet seat in a stowed position, an electric motor operatively connected to the toilet seat and a cleaning unit. The unit is adapted to clean a toilet seat when the seat is raised or moved to be stowed within the cabinet by the electric motor. The cabinet includes at least one door adapted to open to allow a toilet seat to be received in the stowed position. Also included is a method of operating the cleaning unit.
