  • Patent number: 6986557
Abstract: A three-piece slide assembly includes an inner slide segment, an intermediate slide segment and an outer slide segment telescopingly engaged with one another. Desirably, the slide assembly is capable of supporting a 1U or 2U internet server and has a compact cross-sectional area, allowing it to fit within a 1?×?? cross-sectional envelope. Additionally, a single arrangement of upper bearings and a single arrangement of lower bearings desirably support substantially the entire load carried by the slide. Desirably, both the upper and lower bearings are carried by an intermediate slide segment and contact both the inner and outer slide segments when the slide is in a fully closed positioned. The slide assembly desirably includes an automatic sequencing arrangement wherein rotation of the bearings results in the intermediate slide segment extending along with the inner slide segment.
