Patent number: 10880859Abstract: Methods and systems for determining the location of a Bluetooth device using a standard broadcast packet containing known data. Multiple antennas are used to take measurements of the packet are converted into in-phase and quadrature components, then a low-pass filter is applied. The known data presents an in-phase and quadrature spectrum that is a continuous wave-tone representation of the packet signal in the passband of the low-pass filter. Multiple measurements are used to determine the phase difference of the filtered measurements at the different antenna locations. Phase difference is used to determine the location of the device.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2020Date of Patent: December 29, 2020Assignee: GREINA TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventor: Daniel Joseph Lee

Patent number: 10656258Abstract: A system is provided with a ranging transmitter and receiver pair or a transceiver pair. The system classifies a group of radio frequency (RF) channels between ranging transmitter and receiver pairs. In a first scenario, a ranging transmitter transmits at least three channels to an active reflecting receiver. A ranging receiver then receives reflected instances of the at least three transmitted channels from the active reflecting receiver. A processor of the system then determines a ranging measurement between the ranging transmitter and the active reflecting receiver based on measured phase changes and received signal strength and assigns a classification to the determined ranging measurement indicating a relative level of accuracy for the determined ranging measurement. The classification may be a general classification, a linearity classification, a multipath classification, or a combination classification that is based on both a linearity classification and a multipath classification.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2015Date of Patent: May 19, 2020Assignee: GREINA TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Daniel Joseph Lee, Thomas Schmid, Roy S. Patent number: 9250321Abstract: A radio frequency ranging system is grounded in establishing and maintaining phase and frequency coherency of signals received by a slave unit from a master unit and retransmitted to the master unit by the slave unit. For a preferred embodiment of the invention, coherency is established through the use of a delta-sigma phase-lock loop, and maintained through the use, on both master and slave units, of thermally-insulated reference oscillators, which are highly stable over the short periods of time during which communications occur. A phase relationship counter is employed to keep track of the fractional time frames of the phase-lock loop as a function of the reference oscillator, thereby providing absolute phase information for an incoming burst on any channel, thereby enabling the system to almost instantaneously establish or reestablish the phase relationship of the local oscillator so that it synchronized with the reference oscillator.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2014Date of Patent: February 2, 2016Assignee: GREINA TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventor: Daniel Joseph Lee

Publication number: 20080218343Abstract: A system for determining presence or absence of individual items making up a set of items normally maintained together as a set in a common location, such as a set of golf clubs normally maintained together in a golf bag, utilizes a magnet secured to each respective item. A magnetic field sensor monitors total magnetic field in the common location as an indicator of missing items. Alternately, a sensor can keep track of items removed from and added to the common location as an indicator of missing items. If one or more items are missing, an alarm, such as an audible and/or visual alarm, can be provided in a desired manner, such as when keeping track of gold clubs in a golf bag, when the golf bag is moved.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2008Publication date: September 11, 2008Inventors: Daniel Joseph Lee, Leon R.
