  • Publication number: 20240391007
Abstract: A thread milling cutting tool for metal cutting includes an elongated main body having a cutting section, which extends axially rearward from a front end. The cutting section includes a plurality of teeth. The plurality of teeth include at least a first set of circumferentially spaced teeth, wherein each tooth of the at least first set has a same, first axial distance to the front end, and a clearance surface of each tooth has a radial clearance angle. The clearance surface of each tooth of the at least first set of teeth includes a rotationally leading portion and a rotationally trailing portion, wherein the leading portion extends from and rotationally behind the cutting edge, and the radial clearance angle (?) of the leading portion is smaller than the radial clearance angle (?) of the trailing portion.

  • Publication number: 20180236578
Abstract: A thread former includes a shank and a forming section having a polygonal cross-section. A ridge or a plurality of ridges of the thread former extend along the circumference of the forming section that has at least two axially adjacent ridges and/or interruptions. In order to provide a thread former in which the wear is further reduced and the machining speed or the number of manufactured tapped holes can be further increased without increasing the wear or even with the reduction of wear, there is suggested that on axially adjacent ridge sections at least some of the interruptions are arranged at different angular positions.

  • Publication number: 20170129029
Abstract: A thread milling cutter having a main body which includes a shank and a cutting portion, which is cylindrical in its basic shape, an axis of rotation and a plurality of cutting teeth, which are spaced in the peripheral direction and which are arranged on the cutting portion in at least two different radial planes extending perpendicularly to the axis of rotation is provided. The thread milling cutter combines the advantages of high working efficiency of one-piece thread milling cutters having a plurality of cutting teeth and cutting lobes with the advantages of thread milling cutters having indexable cutting inserts without being restricted to large diameters. The cutting portion, respectively, has at least two seats for receiving a respective standard cutting insert in each of at least two different radial planes and the cutting teeth are formed by cutting corners of standard cutting inserts.
