  • Publication number: 20030070256
Abstract: An apparatus and method for spacing a door from an associated doorjamb are disclosed. The apparatus includes a spacer for limiting closing of the door such that an outer edge of the door is spaced apart from an associated doorjamb. The apparatus also includes a device cooperating with an opening in the doorjamb for securing the spacer to the doorjamb. The device may include a pair of opposing engagement members and a moveable expander for moving the engagement members into contact with an inner surface of the opening of the doorjamb. The expander may include camming surfaces which bear upon the engagement members to expand the engagement members. The method involves actuating an actuator to move the engagement members into contact with an inner surface of the opening of the doorjamb to secure the spacer to the doorjamb to limit closing of the door such that an outer edge of the door is spaced apart from the doorjamb.

  • Patent number: 4949446
Abstract: An apparatus to remove a rivet from a chain saw chain. The apparatus includes a body with a recess in the body. A partially threaded opening is formed at one end of the body and extends to the recess. An anvil can be located in the recess. There is a slot in the anvil of predetermined width to contact a saw chain of predetermined pitch. A bolt is received in the partially threaded opening and a punch member is received in the opening. The punch member abuts the bolt to extend to the recess. Thus, tightening of the bolt extends the punch into the recess and the punch can thus be driven to break the head of a rivet in a saw chain. Preferably the apparatus includes a spinner to allow forming of a rivet in a saw chain. The apparatus is easy to use, easy to transport and, in particular, can be used easily on the job site.

  • Patent number: 4903552
Abstract: A sharpening guide for a file to be used in sharpening a chain saw chain. The guide a semi-cylindrical body is a close fit on a round file. There is a first support for the file at one end of the body. The support has an opening to receive the round file. The dimensions of semi-cylindrical body and the support allow the file to rotate in the guide.

  • Patent number: 4813135
Abstract: A nose roller tip for a cutter bar of a chain saw. There is a mounting web to engage the cutter bar. A pair of rollers are each mounted on opposed sides of the mounting web. There are outer plates, one adjacent each roller. The mounting web, rollers and outer plates are attached together to allow free rotation of the roller relative to the nose roller tip.

  • Patent number: 4745827
Abstract: A filing guide for a saw chain having inner links with spaces therebetween, outer links and cutter teeth. The filing guide comprises a rigid body with a front edge shaped to abut against the inner links and a pair of spaced-apart elongated members extending perpendicularly from the body adjacent the front edge. The members are shaped to fit within the spaces between the inner links and the body is shaped to glidably receive a round file so that a cutter tooth can be filed by the round file when the filing guide is positioned for use with the members inserted in the spaces between the inner links. The top of the body is flat.

  • Patent number: 4587868
Abstract: A device for controlling filing of a depth gauge of a saw chain has an elongated file holder with a center portion having clips for holding a file. The filing surface of the file faces outwardly from the holder. The file holder has a flat surface facing outwardly on a first side of the center portion and has a straight edge facing outwardly on a second side of the center portion. The flat surface and the straight edge are positioned relative to the center portion such that, after a depth gauge of a first cutter link has been filed to a desired level, the flat surface rests against the cutter edge of the first cutter link while the straight edge engages the non-cutter link of the chain and a back of a second cutter link.
