  • Patent number: 4793448
Abstract: The caliper support key (10) includes two generally U-shaped metallic key members (20, 40) which are shaped complementary to one another. Each member (20, 40) has a radially outer arm (22, 42) which includes a radially outer arm end (28, 48) that extends further than and outwardly at an angle away from an associated radially inner arm (24, 44). The radially outer arm end (28) of the outer key member (20) includes at least one aperture (31) which is in axial alignment with at least one opening (33) disposed within the associated radially outer arm end (48) of the inner key member (40). The aperture (31) and opening (33) are aligned eccentrically relative to one another in a circumferential direction relative to the brake.

  • Patent number: 4635761
Abstract: The disc brake (10) includes a parking cartridge device (28) which transfers reaction forces of the mechanical parking actuator (36) directly to the caliper housing (12) and also provides support and guidance for a cable (90) attached to lever arms (70) of the mechanical parking actuator (36). The mechanical parking actuator (36) is disposed within an opening (34) of the parking cartridge housing (30), the parking cartridge housing (30) having a plurality of through openings (42) so that bolts (50) may be secured at one end to the caliper housing (12) and at the other end to a bracket (60) which abuts an end (33) of the parking cartridge housing (30).

Inventors: Roger L. Smith, Daniel L. Bolenbaugh
  • Patent number: 4619347
Abstract: A disc brake assembly includes a caliper cooperating with a pair of friction pads to oppose rotation of a rotor. The caliper defines a bore receiving a piston assembly and a cartridge assembly. The cartridge assembly carries an actuator which is movable during a parking brake application.

  • Patent number: 4566564
Abstract: A disc brake assembly includes a torque member (12) with a pair of arms (18, 20) supporting a caliper assembly (24). The pair of arms and caliper assembly define recesses (34, 36) and the recesses form slots (50, 52) which receive a friction element (32). The friction element (32) extends into the recesses (34, 36) to connect with and transmit torque to the caliper assembly (24). The friction element 32 includes projections (62, 64) in abutting relation with the caliper assembly (24).

Inventors: Daniel L. Bolenbaugh, Robert E. Herzog
  • Patent number: 4560039
Abstract: A disc brake assembly includes a caliper assembly and a torque member with matching slots to receive a pin assembly. A bolt is connected with the torque member arm to prevent separation between the caliper assembly and the torque member in the event the pin assembly separates from the torque member and caliper assembly.

  • Patent number: 4540069
Abstract: A disc brake and dust shield therefore comprises an inboard plate secured to an axle flange and an outboard plate secured to a rotatable hub. The plates cooperates with a wheel assembly to define a cavity receiving and protecting a rotor from contaminants.

  • Patent number: 4436187
Abstract: A disc brake assembly includes a torque plate (14) with a radial portion (16) and an axial portion (18). The axial portion (18) defines a pair of arms (22,24) with slots (28,32) receiving pin assemblies (36,38). One of the pin assemblies defines a slot (60 or 62) and the torque plate (14) defines a slot (84) to releasably lock a spring (50) in engagement with the pin assembly (36).
