  • Patent number: 10986770
Abstract: A process and apparatus for coating flowable contact-tolerant granules, such as seeds, includes a rotating wheel having peripheral apertures so when the granules are dropped onto the central portion, they bounce and contact other granules and are impelled by centrifugal force to fall through the peripheral apertures down a narrowing funnel preferably (but not necessarily) having a different rotation rate. The coating is spread by gentle granule-to-granule contact and contact with any coating material on the wheel and in the funnel. The granules then flow into an inclined conveyor belt, an inclined auger, or other conveyor, which rolls the granules as they are conveyed upwardly, so that the coating is further spread by gentle granule-to-granule contact.

  • Patent number: 9671164
Abstract: A system and method for at least partially drying seeds treated with a liquid. A supply of heated air is continuously fed to a drying chamber. Treated seeds enter one opening of the drying chamber and are forced around at least a portion of the internal perimeter of the drying chamber before exiting out a second opening. Another embodiment can treat the seeds during and/or after the seeds entering the drying chamber.

  • Patent number: 9668403
Abstract: An apparatus and method to improve delivery of liquid anhydrous ammonia from a portable liquid NH3 tank in cold temperatures includes an air compressor coupled to the vapor port of a portable liquid NH3 tank used to supply liquid anhydrous ammonia to an anhydrous ammonia fertilizer applicator. The apparatus can include an actuator to relieve the tank of compressed air after the tank is empty of liquid anhydrous ammonia.

  • Patent number: 7779768
Abstract: Apparatus and method to improve flow of liquid anhydrous ammonia from a portable liquid NH3 tank in cold temperatures includes an air compressor coupled to the vapor port of a portable liquid NH3 tank used to supply liquid anhydrous ammonia to an anhydrous ammonia fertilizer applicator. The air compressor injects compressed air into the tank to maintain head pressure within the tank at between 80 and 150 psi. to facilitate flow of liquid NH3 from the tank to the applicator when atmospheric temperatures are low as well as when the level of liquid NH3 present in the tank declines.

  • Patent number: 5954139
Abstract: Soil tillage apparatus with a hydraulic reset mechanism has a rigid vertical shank mounted to an elongate arm fixed below a lower plate which is pivotable upon an upper plate. The upper plate is adapted for mounting to an agricultural tool bar. A hydraulic cylinder is vertically mounted to the upper plate and is biased by pressurized hydraulic fluid to resist extension of the ram therefrom. The hydraulic cylinder is pivotal upon the upper plate and the ram is fixed by a pin to the elongate arm. A pressure reducing/relieving valve is adjustable to supply a fixed hydraulic fluid pressure to the hydraulic cylinder at all times.

  • Patent number: 5782307
Abstract: A furrow closer for mounting to an anhydrous ammonia fertilizer applicator knife. The furrow closer has a base plate which can be selectively mounted to a mounting bracket fixed to the shank of the applicator knife. A pair of offset fluted disks lie in intersecting planes with the leading edges of the disks spiced further apart than the trailing edges. The disks are suspended of an axle which is pivotable on an axis perpendicular to the line of travel of the applicator knife.

  • Patent number: 5718556
Abstract: A bulk granular material transport system having multiple compartments with a detachable elevating conveyor to permit the conveyor to assist with unloading as well as loading of the transport device. Each compartment may be individually discharged onto a horizontal conveyor which delivers the seed to the elevating conveyor when the elevating conveyor is in its first position. The elevating conveyor is suspended from an adjustable crane which is pivotable on the frame of the transport system. The elevating conveyor may be released from its first position such that the discharge of the elevating conveyor may be positioned over a compartment of the transport device. All mechanisms are individually actuable through a remote control device.
