  • Publication number: 20190075665
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a portable power supply system. The system is capable of converting DC power from one or more removable, rechargeable battery packs to AC power for corded power tools and appliance. The system is also capable of receiving AC power from an AC power supply and converting the AC power to DC power and using the DC power to charge the removable, rechargeable battery packs. The system includes a heat sink to assist in dissipating heat generated by various electronic components in the system. The heat sink also serves as a structural element to provide structural support to a housing of the system.

  • Publication number: 20190006803
Abstract: An electrical inlet/outlet assembly is provided including an Alternating Current (AC) inlet having at least a line terminal and a neutral terminal arranged to receive electric power from a power supply via a first power, and an AC outlet having at least a line terminal and a neutral terminal arranged to supply electric power from the AC inlet to an electrical device. Channels are provided extending respectively between the line and neutral terminals of the AC inlet and the line and neutral terminals of the AC outlet, and connectors are disposed within the channels to electrically connect the line and neutral terminals of the AC inlet respectively to the line and neutral terminals of the AC outlet. The channels forms water-sealed enclosures around the connectors.

  • Patent number: 7517137
Abstract: An improved system and method for stirring suspended solids in a liquid media to enhance sample growth and improve sample detection results. The system and method employs a sample vessel holder which adapted to receive at least one sample vessel which contains the solids and liquid media and a stirrer, such as a ferrous metal filled stirrer, and maintain the sample vessel in a position such that the longitudinal axis of the sample vessel extends at an angle substantially less than 90 degrees with respect to the horizontal, such as within the range of about 15 degrees to about 25 degrees with respect to the horizontal. The system and method further employs a magnet driver, adapted to move a magnet, such as a rare earth magnet, proximate to an outer surface of the sample vessel to permit the magnet to impose a magnetic influence on the stirrer to move the stirrer in the sample vessel.

  • Patent number: 6216049
Abstract: A computerized method and apparatus are disclosed for analyzing numerical data pertaining to a sample assay comprising at least one biological or chemical sample. The data include a set of data pertaining to each respective sample, with each set of data including a plurality of values each representing a condition of the sample at a given time. The method and apparatus assign a respective numerical value to each of the data values, mathematically combine the numerical values to generate a total value, compare the total value to a threshold value, and control the system to indicate whether the sample has a predetermined characteristic based on a result of the comparison. Prior to calculation of the sample value, filtering, normalizing and other correcting operations can be performed on the data to correct anomalous values in the data which could adversely affect the accuracy of the results.

  • Patent number: 5518923
Abstract: The present invention describes an apparatus for detecting biological activities in a large number of blood culture containers. The containers are placed in a plurality of wells arranged in concentric rows on a turntable that is rotated about a central axis. Each well is designed to receive and hold one of a plurality of sealable containers inserted base first, with each container having optical sensing means for sensing microorganisms therein and a bar code pattern attached thereto for identification purposes. Each well has an opening in its base to allow a sensor station to monitor a fluorescence chemical sensor in each container to determine whether there is microorganism growth within the container. Prior to inserting each container into a well on the turntable, a culture medium and blood specimen are introduced into the container and the bar code is scanned to identify the container.
