  • Patent number: 6167948
Abstract: A heat spreading apparatus includes a first planar body for attachment to a heat generating surface which results in a hot region and a cool region on the first planar body. A second planar body connected to the first planar body is used to define a void between the first planar body and the second planar body. The void includes a planar capillary path and a non-capillary region. A fluid positioned within the void distributes heat by vaporizing the fluid from the planar capillary path in the hot region, condensing the fluid in the non-capillary region in the cool region, and moving from the non-capillary region to the planar capillary path in the hot region through capillarity.

  • Patent number: 6065684
Abstract: A direct injection fuel injector and method of operation wherein high fuel pressure exerting an opening force on an injection valve is slightly overbalanced by a return spring tending to close the valve. A first solenoid acts to open the valve against the excess return spring force and a second solenoid acts to close the valve when the first solenoid is de-energized. Rapid valve closing is provided by energizing the second solenoid before de-energizing the first solenoid, the force of the second solenoid when the valve is open being insufficient to overcome the force of the first solenoid holding the valve open. Thus, the second solenoid magnetic force is fully developed and quickly closes the injection valve when the first solenoid is de-energized. Various additional features are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6061696
Abstract: Multimedia documents, for example, HTML pages, are created by a user in a graphic development environment running on a computer system by representing an object (e.g., an image) in a standard format while enabling the user to view and manipulate the object in a rich, native format which is different from the standard format. After the user has manipulated the object as desired, the native format representation of the object is automatically converted to the standard format and is used to represent the object in the multimedia document.

  • Patent number: 6041155
Abstract: A connector adapter and dust cover therefor are pivotably connected by means of a pivot pin on the adapter and pivot arms on the dust cover whose distal ends engage the pivot pin. The pivot pin has a cam member located intermediate its ends, and the dust cover has a spring arm between the pivot arms whose distal end engages the cam member. In the closed position, the distal end of the spring arm engages the cam below its high point. In the fully open position, the distal end of the spring arm engages the cam beyond its high point. In both positions, the spring arm bears against the cam to resist dislodgment of the dust cover from either position.

  • Patent number: 6002311
Abstract: A TM mode dielectric resonator and a filter comprising such a resonator. The resonator includes metallic walls defining a cavity. A dielectric resonator body is accommodated within the cavity. An end surface of the dielectric resonator body is located in the vicinity of one cavity wall, so as to provide a spacing between said end surface and said cavity wall, at least in a region corresponding to a portion of said end surface. The spacing can be obtained by washers, arranged between the dielectric resonator body and said cavity wall. It can also be obtained by means of a recess in said cavity wall, one or more protrusions on said cavity wall, or a metallic or dielectric ring arranged between the dielectric resonator body and said cavity wall.

  • Patent number: 5987113
Abstract: A phone service for preventing missed connections and "phone tag" that commonly happens and, in particular, helps people contact people who are traveling is disclosed. A user registers the phone number at which he or she is currently located with a service controller which maintains a database of such user registrations. The user may also prioritize the identities of other users with whom he or she wishes to contact. When the service controller determines that a first user wishes to get in contact with a second user and that both users have current locations registered in the database, then the service controller will call both users and connect them to each other.
