  • Patent number: 9087224
Abstract: A system and method for commissioning of a beam model for a three dimensional radiation therapy treatment planning system is described. The system includes an intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) unit for generating a two dimensional intensity modulated beam pattern, a two dimensional diode array for detecting a two dimensional dose map for the beam pattern, and a processor configured to execute instructions for iteratively adjusting one or more parameters for the beam model, in order to increase agreement between the detected dose map and a calculated dose map calculated using the beam model.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 1, 2011
Date of Patent: July 21, 2015
    Assignee: UNIVERSITY HEALTH NETWORK
Inventors: David Anthony Jaffray, Daniel Letourneau, Michael Bryan Sharpe
