Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling distribution of illumination information in an illumination system, wherein illumination settings to be sent for storing at one or more luminaires are determined based on one or more priority metrics. Priority metrics may be based on previous usage of an illumination setting, or the content of an illumination setting for example. The determination and sending can be commenced by a trigger such as a time of day or a user input, and evaluation of priority metrics can be performed to so that illumination settings are stored intelligently based on a user profile, preference or schedule.
