Patent number: 7886042Abstract: Scheduling searchable items such as web pages for crawling involves dynamically scheduling items for downloading based on capacity based on time. The workload is distributed over time, in advance, by anticipating and accounting for the discovery of new links on the particular host. Respective times to download items can be determined based on the current size of the host's crawl corpus relative to the maximum size of the host's crawl corpus. The respective times may be determined based additionally on respective freshness targets for the searchable items, which characterize how often an item's content should be refreshed by re-downloading the item, and on respective politeness factors for the host, which characterize the delay time between consecutive download requests to that host. As such, one can know precisely how the system is performing at any point in time and predict future performance.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2006Date of Patent: February 8, 2011Assignee: Yahoo! Inc.Inventors: Daniel Mattias Larsson, Ashwinder Ahluwalia, Sridharan Gopal Krishnan

Patent number: 7620622Abstract: A system and method for providing at least one search result responsive to a search query with search query terms, includes parsing pages for a plurality of text and non-text indexable elements. The invention further includes assigning a location identifier to one or more of the plurality of elements that corresponds to a location of a given element in a given page from the set of pages and is a pointer to the location of the given element. The invention further includes storing the elements and the corresponding location identifier for the elements in a computer readable medium as records, receiving the search query to request a stored record, from a user across a networked connection, searching the plurality of records to determine elements that correspond to the search query. The invention further includes transmitting a text element and a non-text element, to the user across the networked connection.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2001Date of Patent: November 17, 2009Assignee: Yahoo! Patent number: 6015283Abstract: A mold assembly includes a stack of mold plates having a first plate and a second plate movable towards one another and away from one another in opening and closing directions between open and closed positions. The stack of mold plates includes a third plate disposed between the first and second plates. The mold assembly also includes a plate movement control device having at least one linkage. Each linkage may include a traveling element mounted to the third plate for movement along a predetermined path of motion relative to the third plate, a first arm having a first end pivotally connected to the traveling element and a second arm having a first end pivotally connected to the second plate and a second end pivotally connected to the traveling element.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1998Date of Patent: January 18, 2000Assignee: National Tool & Manufacturing Co.Inventor: Daniel Mattia

Patent number: 5450973Abstract: A tamper indicating closure comprising a one-piece molded plastic closure which threads onto the finish of a container such that when the closure is removed from the container, a tamper indicating band becomes separated from a lower end of a cap member of the closure. The tamper indicating band is joined to the closure along a weakened frangible line. The band includes a flexible Y-shaped annular flap segmented into tabs and attached to the lower end of the annular tamper band. When the closure is applied to the container, the annular band folds radially inward and up toward the cap member. The interior surface of the band and the first leg of the annular band include corresponding ratchet teeth which are designed to accommodate a varying degree of finish tolerances and which engage upon removal of the cap from the container. A second leg of the annular flap extends outwardly beneath a peripheral bead on the finish of the container when the closure is fully attached.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1994Date of Patent: September 19, 1995Assignee: Eagle Engraving and Mold Corp.Inventors: John D. Ellis, Daniel Mattia

Patent number: 5033632Abstract: A tamper-evident closure includes a cap having an interior, threaded peripheral skirt, a tamper-evident ring disposed below the lower edge of the skirt and a plurality of elongate bridge members interconnecting the tamper-evident ring to the cap. Each bridge member includes a lower end forming a lower juction with the ring an upper end thinner than the lower end forming an upper juction with a surface of a recess formed in the skirt. Each bridge member is designed to break at the upper end thereof when the closure is rotated in a direction to remove it from the container, and each bridge member is inclined upwardly at an acute angle to the ring from the lower to the upper junction, in the direction in which the cap is required to be rotated to remove it from the container.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1990Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignee: Lincoln Mold and Die CorporationInventors: Daniel Mattia, Edward J.
