  • Publication number: 20140217208
Abstract: Paper products having identity theft information such as personal/ confidential information thereon should be periodically destroyed. These sheets of paper are loaded into a mashing container being a flexible container that allows water to enter and exit but not the mashed paper. A sealable top should prevent the container from opening when it is being processed. The loaded mashing container is then placed into a conventional washing machine, one embodiment, and by means of the vanes of the agitator, the paper is mashed during a washing cycle. After this cycle, the washer is placed in the spin mode to remove as much water from the pulp as possible. The processed mashing container is removed and the top opened so that the pulp can be removed and placed in the garbage. Alternatively, the processed mashing container may itself be placed in the garbage.

  • Patent number: 7766426
Abstract: A tilt mechanism for a chair includes rotary stop means defining a plurality of selectable tilted positions of the chair seat/back. In another aspect, an anti kick-back feature is provided based. The mechanism includes upper and lower housing parts and a cushioning spring that normally maintains the parts in a rest position with respect to one another while allowing the mechanism to tilt. A further aspect of the invention provides an improved spring tension control that allows the spring to be installed and removed in a fully relaxed condition so that no special tools are required.

  • Patent number: 6261085
Abstract: A tandem press has a moving frame comprising a moving platen moving in a reciprocating motion between stationary outer platens, between a first clamping position in which the moving platen clamps a first mold mounted on one side of the press, and a second clamping position in which the moving platen clamps a second mold on the other side of the press. The tandem press of the invention thus provides two complete clamping cycles within one press cycle. In the preferred embodiment the hydraulic pistons actuating the moving platen also serve as guide bars for maintaining the moving platen in alignment with the stationary platens. In the preferred embodiment the actuating cylinders are small bore diameter high speed cylinders, and the moving platen is provided with larger bore diameter hydraulic clamping cylinders to apply the required clamping force to the mold after the actuating cylinders have moved the moving platen to the clamping position.

  • Patent number: 5681131
Abstract: A system for feeding a cable into a pipeline or other conduit comprises a rotating turret and a local cable feeding mechanism for drawing the cable off of the turret reel and loading it thereon. A remote cable feeding mechanism for inserting the cable into or withdrawing it from the pipeline is attached to a launch saddle secured to the pipeline, and its feeding rate is synchronized with that of the local cable feeding mechanism. Where the cable acts as an umbilical cable carrying fluids and electrical power to a tool inside the pipeline, the fluid and power supplies may be located on the floor of the reel, connected to an operator station by an electrical cable which winds onto and off of the turret shaft and is kept taut by a spring-biased tensioning arm. A flexible fibreglass rod extends through the cable to prevent coiling or bunching up within the pipeline while permitting the cable to traverse bends and corners.

  • Patent number: 5536232
Abstract: Inflating a fighter-pilot's anti-G suit to the correct pressure is facilitated by the pressure regulator design. Using Preview Control, the movement of the control stick is used to predict what the G-force on the aircraft will be in the time ahead. A computer determines what pressure is needed in the suit to safeguard the pilot at that G-force. The size of the air-flow aperture in the regulator is defined by overlapping windows in the housing and rotor of the regulator. The rotor is moved to give the correct overlap by means of a servo motor or stepper motor, which positions the rotor in response to the computer output. The very fast, stable, response of the regulator to the computer input enables the suit pressure to follow the G-forces predicted by Preview Control with great accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5522416
Abstract: An air pressure regulator includes a cylindrical rotor with a hollow interior. The thin walls of the rotor have windows which overlap inlet and exhaust windows in the housing. The rotor is rotated progressively by a stepper motor in response to computer determination of required pressure. The system is used to inflate a pilot's anti-G suit.

  • Patent number: 5136232
Abstract: A battery protector/automatic ON switching device comprises a first terminal for connecting to the generator output of the vehicle and a second terminal for connecting to the input pole of the vehicle battery, and a diode serially connecting the first and second terminals to permit a charging current to flow to the battery and block current flow in the reverse direction. A third terminal for connection to a load circuit of the vehicle connects to the first terminal through an automatic switch which will switch on the ON condition only when at least a threshold voltage sufficient to excite the genertor to its full output is experienced at the first terminal. The first terminal connects directly to a dummy pole that may be gripped by a booster cable for providing a booster charge to another battery. The diode prevents current flow from the battery of the source vehicle and the inadvertent damage thereof.
