    Abstract: A remote wireless moisture sensing unit is insertable into soil. The sensing unit includes at least three capacitive sensors positioned at three spaced apart levels with respect to the surface of the soil. The capacitance of each sensor increases in the presence of increased moisture content of the soil proximate to the sensor. An analog multiplexer selectively routes each sensor to an input to a capacitively-controlled oscillator to cause the oscillator to generate a clock signal having a frequency responsive to the capacitance of the currently connected sensor and thus responsive to the moisture content proximate to the currently selected sensor. A processor generates a respective data value for the frequency corresponding to each sensor and transmits the data values for the sensors via a radio frequency transceiver. The data values are processed to determine the moisture content of the soil at the three sensor levels.

The analytics system determines microbial composition of the soil sample using the taxonomic information. The analytics system determines reference metrics of soil samples from geographical locations in which the one or more types of crop were grown. The analytics system determines a metric of the soil sample using the microbial composition and the reference metrics. The analytics system transmits the metric to a client device.

In particular, the present invention provides an MOF having a molecular formula of Zr6(?3-O)4(?3OH)4(OH)4(H2O)4(TBAPy)2, wherein TBAPy is 1,3,6,8-tetrakis (p-benzoic-acid)pyrene, (known as NU-1000) for use in complexing selenate or selenite from a liquid or liquid stream. Further, the selenium based oxy-anions are removed to concentrations below that specified for wastewater discharge by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for flue gas desulfurization operations in the fossil fueled electric power generation industry. Such water treatment results are achieved even in the presence of competing sulfate anion challenges and at elevated temperatures comparable to condensate cooling water.
