The at least two ascertained maxima are normalized with reference to the greatest maximum and one of the normalized maxima is assigned to the fill level, so that the masking curve can be created based on the measurement curve in at least one subrange between the fill level measuring device and the maximum of the fill level value. Because of the normalization of the maxima, the danger of mistake in the assignment can be lessened, so that the assignment and subsequent fill level measurements are reliable.

The echo curve and envelope curve are evaluated by the superordinate control unit. A wanted echo signal of the echo curve and envelope curve is identified. During the determining of the fill level the fill substance and the container are subjected to a current process. Based on information concerning the current process, plausibility of the wanted echo signal is checked and the evaluation is dynamically adapted to the current process.

From a transmission behavior of the present actual clutch torque (M(i)), an absolute amplitude and a phase of an input signal detected at the output of the friction clutch and conveyed to a regulator are ascertained, and a phase-selective disturbance torque is ascertained. From the phase-selective disturbance torque, a phase-correct correction torque (M(k)) is determined, and the target clutch torque (M(s)) is corrected by the regulator. The correction torque (M(k)) is weighted with a specifiable intensification factor.
