Patent number: 11909644Abstract: A network device transmits data to a user equipment (UE) via a first Radio Access Network (RAN) using first Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) congestion control parameters. The network device receives a notification message indicating that the UE has moved from the first RAN to a second RAN. The network device modifies, responsive to receipt of the notification, the first TCP congestion control parameters to create second TCP congestion control parameters, where the first TCP congestion control parameters include a first slow start threshold (ssthresh), and wherein the second TCP congestion control parameters include a second ssthresh that is different than the first ssthresh. The network device transmits data to the UE via the second RAN using the second TCP congestion control parameters.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2021Date of Patent: February 20, 2024Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Daniel Mindler, Hugo David Munoz Sanchez, Maria Cel Halili Zaballero, Daniel Osorio, Xihong Wang, Lixia Yan

Publication number: 20200162862Abstract: A network device stores overload handling criteria for a real-time credit management system of a wireless core network. The network device monitors for overload conditions based on the overload handling criteria and determines, based on the monitoring, that a potential overload condition exists. The network device receives a first credit control request for a user device, determines a standard resource quota that is responsive to the first credit control request, and allocates an increased resource quota, over the standard resource quota, for the first credit control request. The increased resource quota is based on the potential overload condition and the overload handling criteria. The increased resource quota may prevent the system from reaching a complete overload condition, may reduce overall message traffic, and may provide time for manual or autonomous recovery from the circumstance that caused the potential overload condition.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2019Publication date: May 21, 2020Inventors: Hugo David Munoz-Sanchez, Mirza Z. Zillur, Maria Cel Halili Zaballero, Daniel Osorio

Patent number: 10582372Abstract: A device may receive, from a network device, a credit control request to allocate a quota to a subscriber device. The quota may relate to access, by the subscriber device, to network resources provided by a network provider. The device may determine a subscriber value based on historical usage of network resources by the subscriber device, identify a group value based on historical usage of network resources by a group of subscriber devices with which the subscriber device is associated, and determine a particular quota to allocate to the subscriber device based on a baseline quota, the subscriber value, and a group value. The device may perform one or more actions to cause the particular quota to be allocated to the subscriber device based on determining the particular quota.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2018Date of Patent: March 3, 2020Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Hugo David Muñoz Sanchez, Landry N'drin Edi, Mirza Zillur, Maria Cel Halili Zaballero, Daniel Osorio

Publication number: 20150201223Abstract: Implementations of the present invention include a Public Cloud, one or more End-Caches and optionally one or more Edge-Caches in computerized architecture that provides digital content, such as entertainment services and/or informational content, to a guest display (e.g., End-Cache connected to in-room TV, End-Cache connected to personal portable device) or control of one or more devices (e.g., in-room TV and/or in-room control). Implementations of the present invention also include a Content Distribution Architecture that uses the public Internet to securely transmit digital content and data to all desired locations (e.g., End-Caches). Implementations of the present invention further include a Channel Processor that takes one of more video signal(s) and prepares them for redistribution to an end user. Implementations of the present invention leverage existing wiring at the property (whether coax, Ethernet, home-run, or loop-thru) to transport content/data to/from End-Caches.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2015Publication date: July 16, 2015Inventors: Daniel Osorio, Robert L. Patent number: 8640271Abstract: A cartridge unit for use with a urinal is disclosed that does not need water to work nor does it use a body of oily liquid sealant as an odor barrier. The odor trap cartridge unit used in this urinal has a spring locking mechanism that works as a valve. It is opened by liquid weight when the urinal is used and lets urine or any other liquid pass downwardly through it and prevents odors from flowing back up towards the room. The cartridge unit has a few disks, two main cylindrical devices, a spring, a fastener, an o-ring, and a coupling; these all operate to open and close a spring sealed trap. These are all placed within a unique three-sized shell that supports the entire cartridge and is fitted into a urinal opening. An umbrella shaped part completes the cartridge by protecting its components from violent fluid flow.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2010Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Inventor: Daniel Osorio Cadavid

Implementations of the present invention also include a Content Distribution Architecture that uses the public Internet to securely broadcast large digital media file(s) simultaneously to all desired locations (e.g., Edge-Caches). Implementations of the present invention further include a Channel Processor that uses a video-input agnostic approach (i.e., composite, sVideo, component, HDMI) to take whatever video signal (i.e., std-def, high-def) and make it better (i.e., all digital, all high-def quality). Implementations of the present invention therefore improve distribution of entertainment to end users, as well as the playback thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2010Publication date: July 11, 2013Inventors: Daniel Osorio, Robert L. Publication number: 20080072250Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed to distribute digital media information to an end user through individual modules. The invention includes a central networked data point controlling access to and manipulation of the digital media information for display at an end user display and one or more content modules, the one or more content modules providing access to digital media information at the end user display. Also included are a framework module configured to assemble the one or more content modules into a framework definition forming a graphical user interface (GUI) for the end user display and a framework modification module configured to selectively include content modules in the framework definition. Beneficially, such an apparatus, system, and method would allow for the distribution of digital media along with easy modification of the type and configuration of the media displayed.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2007Publication date: March 20, 2008Inventors: Daniel Osorio, Randall Larson, Sean Thayne

Publication number: 20030009542Abstract: A digital entertainment solution includes a system for treating digital content, transmitting the digital content over a network to a viewing station where the digital content is presented to a viewer. A network-booting set-top box built from computer desktop technologies supports gaming, web browsing, e-mail, music listening, movie viewing and the like. A scan converter within the set-top box converts monitor resolution images to formats used by standard television sets. A browser within the set-top box substitutes fonts optimized for television viewing for standard fonts designed for computer monitors. Multiple set-top boxes are combined in a network and isolated from data-only devices to ensure service quality and to prevent unauthorized copying of digital content. The reach of the network is extended with wireless segments that use a variety of mechanisms to ensure security and service quality.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2002Publication date: January 9, 2003Inventors: Alpay O.
